The School of Planning and Architecture (SPA) in New Delhi began as a Department of Architecture at Delhi Polytechnic in 1941. The institute is located in New Delhi's IP Estate. Under its architecture, planning, and design streams, SPA provides undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral studies.

SPA Delhi offers two undergraduate programs, ten post-graduate programs, and twelve doctoral programs. B. Arch and B. Planning are the two UG courses. 

UG courses have an online application process and admissions are based on an entrance exam. M. Arch and M. Plan are the two PG courses available. SPA New Delhi also provides Master of Building Engineering and Management (MBEM) and Master of Landscape Architecture (MLA) as professional PG degrees. 

Admissions in post-graduate courses will be granted depending on the students' academic achievements. Students with a Bachelor's degree in the relevant subject are eligible. Admission to UG programs is based on the JEE MAIN PAPER 2 entrance exam. Admission to the Ph.D. program requires a passing score in the UGC-NET tests.

SPA Delhi: UG Admissions - B. Arch and B. Plan 2022

Undergraduate education at the School of Planning and Architecture in Delhi includes a five-year full-timeB.Arch degree and a four-year full-time B.Plan degree. The Council of Architecture has recognized the B.Arch and B.Plan program at SPA Delhi. 

Eligibility Criteria

  • Candidates must have at least 50% aggregate marks in 10+2 or equivalent examinations in order to apply to the B.Arch and B.Plan programs at SPA Delhi. In 10+2 exams, candidates must have Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as their main subjects. 
  • Candidates who have obtained at least 50 % marks in Diploma courses with Maths as one of their main subjects are also eligible for admission to B.Arch and B.Plan courses at SPA Delhi.

Selection Criteria

  • The JEE Main Paper 2 entrance exam score is used to make the final selection. 
  • Seats will be assigned based on JEE Main rank, which will be determined by JoSAA (Joint Seat Selection Authority) counseling. 
  • Direct Admission of Students Abroad (DASA) score will be used to admit NRI/PIO/FN students to BArch and BPlan programs.

Cut Off

Cut off for B.Arch and B.Plan courses at SPA Delhi is decided based on JEE MAIN Paper 2 ranks.

  • The application runs in offline mode. 
  • Following the allocation of seats through JoSAA counseling, selected candidates must fill out an application form available at the college.

SPA Delhi: M.Arch Admissions 2022

Under postgraduate programs, SPA Delhi offers a Master of Architecture program. M.Arch program has a time duration of 2 years.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Candidates must have obtained at least 55% (5% relaxation for SC/ST students) aggregate marks in their B.Arch examinations in order to apply to the M.Arch program.

Selection Criteria

A merit list will be drawn up based on the cumulative score obtained from the five areas listed below, depending on which candidates will be admitted to the M.Arch course:

  • Interaction with professors and/or a written test

  • Candidates who have scored a passing score in GATE/CEED will be preferred.

  • Students can get the application form from the institute's website. 
  • Select "Admission 2021" from the drop-down menu. 
  • "Application form for PG" should be selected then. 
  • On the screen, there will be an application form. The form can be downloaded by clicking the download icon in the right corner. 
  • Students can now complete the form with all of the relevant information. 
  • Finally, students can send the form to the institute's admissions office or visit the institute in person to submit it.
  • The rest of the admissions process will take place on the institute's campus.

SPA Delhi: PhD Admissions 2022

Full-time and part-time PhD programs are available at SPA Delhi. Students in the full-time program must complete their program within five years, whereas part-time students have a maximum of seven years to complete their course from the date of registration. Apart from educating postgraduate students for 8-10 hours per week, full-time applicants must meet residency criteria. The Research Methodology course is needed for both full-time and part-time applicants.

  • PhD admissions are processed twice a year, at the beginning of either semester (January/July) of the academic year.
  • The qualifying criteria for PhD (Part-Time) will be the same as below, with the exception being that the applicant must have five years of extra work experience in addition to the one indicated below, and must acquire a letter of approval from the employer (if any).

SPA Delhi: FAQs 

Question: My result is not declared. Am I eligible for applying to the courses offered by SPA Delhi? 

Answer: Yes, your cumulative grades from the preceding semester/year must be higher than the minimum requirements outlined in the eligibility criteria of that course. If you are selected, you must send a copy of your results to the institute before the deadline, or your admission will be canceled and your fee will be forfeited.

Question: How do I know that my application sent by post to SPA Delhi is received or not?

Answer: The candidate will be notified via email when his/her application gets received at the institute.

Question: How will I be informed of my results?

Answer: The final list of candidates to be admitted will be posted on the institute's website. Candidates who have been accepted into the program must pay the fee by the deadlines specified.

Question: Will I get a hostel facility on campus in SPA Delhi?

Answer: Because the hostel has a limited number of seats, a few selected students may have to make their own arrangements. NCR candidates will not be provided with hostel accommodations.

Question: What should I enter in the semester column in the application form when applying for various courses at SPA Delhi if I am pursuing/have passed examinations on a yearly pattern?

Answer: Yearly marks must be filled in 2, 4, 6,8, and 10 semesters.
