In one of the most titular moments of her life, Dr Mukta Agrawal has been honoured with the Best Oral Presentation Award at the International Platform of “Pharmacon 2023” on ‘New Horizons on Drug, Devices and Diagnostics’. She received the honour for her unparalleled work in the presentation titled “Comparative Analysis of SLN and NLC as Novel Drug Carrier System”. Dr Agrawal is currently engaged as an Assistant Professor (Pharmaceutics) at SVKM’s NIMIMS School of Pharmacy & Technology Management, Jadcherla, Hyderabad.

This International Conference took place at the Heartful Wellness Centre, Kanha Shanti Vanam, Hyderabad. National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (NIPER), Hyderabad organised the event under the Department of Pharmaceuticals, Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilisers, Government of India.

The core objective of “Pharmacon 2023” was to discuss the opportunities available and issues plaguing the discovery and development of drugs along with medical diagnostics. The event is attended by domestic as well as international leaders and policymakers from both academia and industry. The events involves participants presenting original research works of their own.

Dr Agrawal’s presentation titled, ‘Comparative Analysis of SLN and NLC as Novel Drug Carrier System’ is a comprehensive research work on Solid Lipid Nanoparticles (SLN) and Nano Lipid Carriers (NLC). Herein, the efficiency of NLC and SLN were compared in terms of their drug targeting to the brain so that it can be used in the treatment of inflammatory & neurodegenerative disorders. The findings of the research show both of them to be efficient in tumour targeting, brain targeting and treatment of chronic disorders, but NLC is relatively better in terms of drug loading, entrapment, stability, and Pharmacokinetic parameters.

Dr Mukta Agrawal, Assistant Professor (Pharmaceutics) at NMIMS SPTM, Hyderabad Campus, is a Ph.D. from CSVTU. Her subjects of interest include disciplines like Tumour targeting, Brain targeting, Nanoparticles, Nose to Brain Drug delivery, Alzheimer’s Therapy and Stimuli Responsive Drug Carriers. She teaches about Controlled and Novel drug delivery Systems along with pharmaceutical technology and Pharmacokinetics. Dr Agrawal can be credited with more than 70 research papers on national and international platforms covering multifarious topics earning her numerous awards and honours. She happens to be a regular attendee of such events and She is a recipient of Young Scientist 2016 and many other national scientific accolades. Dr Agrawal was recently featured in ‘Top 2% Scientist of the World’ for a second consecutive year, this list is published by Stanford University and Elsevier.

Dr Mukta Agrawal, sharing her happiness on this momentous occasion said, “The recognition is a moment of honour for me. I express my gratitude towards the NMIMS faculty and management for their exceptional support and encouragement. NMIMS SPTM Hyderabad has the right infrastructure and resources to pursue path-breaking research in distinct realms of science which helped me achieve the recognition.”

In an expression of appreciation for Dr Agrawal, Dr Siddhartha Ghosh, Director of NMIMS, Hyderabad said, “The recognition at ‘Pharmacon 2023’ is an honour for NMIMS SPTM Hyderabad. High-quality and path-breaking research is the bedrock of any institution, and we encourage and strive hard to provide the best avenues for our learned faculties to pursue research in a range of disciplines.”
