CLAT 2022 has been rescheduled to 19 June 2022 for UG and PG programs. The last date to submit the CLAT 2022 Application form has also been extended to 9 May 2022. The authorities have specified no upper age limit for appearing in CLAT 2022. However, the candidates need to satisfy the eligibility criteria for the course in which they are seeking admissions. CLAT 2022 will be held in pen and paper mode. The candidates who will ace the exam will be eligible for admissions to the 5 year LLB and LLM program.

  • The total number of questions in the UG and PG exams is 150 & 120 respectively.
  • CLAT 2022 syllabus is divided into 5 sections i.e English, Current Affairs, Legal Reasoning, Logical Reasoning and Quantitative Techniques. Whereas CLAT PG Syllabus consist of topics from Criminal Law, International Law, Constitutional Law, Torts and Intellectual Property Rights.

What is CLAT?

CLAT is a national-level Common Law Test. It is the gateway for admissions to undergraduate (UG) and postgraduate (PG) law programs. These programs are offered at 22 participating NLUs and more than 60 affiliated colleges/universities.

CLAT 2022 Courses Offered

There are various Law colleges all over India that accept the CLAT score exams to provide admission to its UG and PG law courses. If one cracks the CLAT 2022 exam, the candidate will be eligible for admissions to BA LLB, BSc LLB, BCom LLB, BTech LLB, BBA LLB, BA LLB (Hons.), BSc LLB (Hons.), BCom LLB (Hons.), BBA LLB (Hons.), and LLM courses.

CLAT 2022 Eligibility Criteria

Candidates from any board and stream can apply for CLAT 2022. There are separate eligibility criteria for CLAT UG and PG Program. For details go through the following table.

CLAT 2022 Application Form

The Registration dates for CLAT 2022 have not been disclosed by CNLUs yet. The consortium has extended the last date to fill the CLAT 2022 application form to 9 May 2022. The candidates need to follow the steps mentioned below to fill the Application Form of CLAT 2022.

  • Step 1: Visit the official website of CLAT
  • Step 2: To register, candidates are required to fill in the details like name, email address, mobile number, and create a password.
  • Step 3: After completing the registration, log in using your newly created ID and password.
  • Step 4: Fill in all the relevant details asked in the form carefully.
  • Step 5: Choose your preferences among the 22 national law universities.
  • Step 6: Pay the CLAT 2022 Application Fees using Net Banking/UPI/Credit Card/Debit Card.
  • Step 7: Upload the scanned copy of the following documents in jpg/jpeg format: Photograph (500KB), Signature (100KB), category certificates (2 MB).
  • Step 8: Click on the Submit button and take a printout of the CLAT 2022 Application Form same.

CLAT 2022 Application Form Correction

The Consortium of NLUs usually does not provide a further chance to correct the CLAT application forms. However, CLAT 2021 was an exception as the CNLUs increased the number of Exam cities due to COVID-19. Therefore, candidates were allowed to update their preferences for cities, as well as review and edit their name, date of birth, and reservations category if it needs any correction.

CLAT 2022 Exam Centers

CLAT 2022 Admit Card

CLAT 2022 Admit Card will be released by NLU on the 3rd week of April 2022 tentatively. The candidates who have successfully applied for the CLAT 2022 exam will be eligible to download the CLAT 2022 admit card from the official website. Make sure candidates have their CLAT 2022 registration number and password handy, as it will be required to download the same.

How to Download the CLAT 2022 Admit Card

  • Step-1: Open the official website of the CLAT consortium.
  • Step-2: To log in to your registered account, submit your user ID and password and click on the “Login” button.

CLAT 2022 Preparation Tips

To ace CLAT 2022 exam, it is crucial that candidates apply a proper strategy and are consistent with their preparation. Go through the following points for every five areas individually to know the right strategy to follow. 

  • General knowledge and Current Affairs: GK, though the toughest topic for most of the candidates carries 35 to 39 questions in the CLAT paper. Other than GK books, reading daily newspapers, following editorial and national pages help a lot in improving GK and CA sections. You can also practice GK questions from GK Today, Cloud Affairs, TCY, etc. websites. 
  • Legal Reasoning: Keep a track of the latest legal happening around the world, new amendments, the important judgments, etc. Follow some good legal blogs, read newspapers daily to increase your reading speed. Some basic concepts from constitutional law, contract law, tort law, etc must be understood while preparing for CLAT 2022 for better results. 
  • Quantitative Aptitude: Candidates are advised to complete the syllabus once and then keep practicing more and more questions to achieve 100% accuracy and increase their speed. Practicing questions will strengthen your base so you will be able to solve any questions under that topic. 
  • Logical Reasoning: Try to identify your way of solving the Reasoning. Puzzle, number series, coding-decoding all need the right approach to solve them. Practice daily 1-2 hours from your reasoning book, follow the right, easy and fast solution, and keep practicing thoroughly. 
  • English Language: As RC is a crucial part of the English section, find a book with plenty of Reading comprehension. Make a habit to read Newspapers, magazines, blogs to improve your vocabulary.

How to Raise Objection Against CLAT 2022 Answer Key

  • Complete your payment, and your objection is raised. 

Please note that the objection raise fee against the CLAT 2022 answer key is Rs 1000 per question. Candidates have to record their objections within 24 hours and after that, the window will be closed and no further objections will be entertained. 

CLAT 2022 Result

CLAT 2022 Result will be declared a few days later after the CLAT 2022 exam. Candidates can access the result online by following the below-mentioned steps. 

  • Step-1: For viewing CLAT Results, first click on the “Result” option on the official site. The link will be activated after the CLAT 2022 Results Declaration.
  • Step-2: Click on the tab “View Result”
  • Step-3: Enter your CLAT application number and password. 
  • Your CLAT 2022 Results will be displayed on your screen.

The admissions to the NLUs or top Law Colleges of India are granted by considering your rank in the merit list.

CLAT 2022 Rank Card - Tie-Breaking Criteria

If two or more candidates secure the same score, CLAT Consortium will break the tie of two or more candidates to allot their ranks by adopting some tie-breaking rules given below. The CLAT 2022 tie-breaking rules are as follows:

  • The candidate who will get higher marks in the Legal Aptitude section will be ranked higher.
  • The older candidate among them will be ranked higher.
  • If the tie is still unresolved after two rules, the CLAT authority will do the computerized draw for ranking.

CLAT 2022 Counselling

The Consortium of NLUs conducts CLAT 2022 Counselling for the invited candidates through an online centralized process. The CLAT 2022 Counseling process will be done as per the CLAT 2022 Exam Dates scheduled by the conducting authorities. You can expect the Counselling to be conducted soon after the publication of the CLAT 2022 Result and Merit list. 

The stepwise procedure for attaining the CLAT 2022 Counselling Process is as follows:

  • Step 1: After the publication of CLAT 2022 Results and Merit lists, based on rank, the first list for CLAT 2022 counseling will be released. 
  • Step 2: Candidates have to choose 5 NLUs taking into consideration their achieved rank and score against the seats available. 
  • Step 3: After filling up their choices candidates must pay INR 30,000 as a Registration Fee to be provisionally selected. 
  • Step 4: The candidates who have registered successfully for the Seat Allotment Lists will be published for them on the official website. 

CLAT 2022 Seat Allotment

To get eligible for CLAT 2022 Seat Allotments process candidates have to register themselves for the Counselling session. After CLAT 2022 Results are published, shortlisted candidates will be allotted seats according to their preference. 

  • For CLAT 2022 Seat Allotment Process shortlisted candidates will be invited via their registered contact details. 
  • Candidates have to log in to the counseling website using the login details sent to them. 
  • Candidates have to choose their preferred NLUs. They can select a minimum of five NLUs for their CLAT 2022 SEAT Allotment. 
  • Required fees must be submitted to complete the registration process.

CLAT 2022 Facts and Figures

  • This year NLU has reduced the CLAT 2022 Counselling Fees from Rs 50,000 to Rs 30,000 for General candidates whereas, for SC, ST, OBC, EWS, BC, PWD candidates, the counseling fee is Rs 20,000.

Q: Can I apply for both CLAT 2022 and CLAT 2023? 

Ans. Yes, you can apply for both sessions. You have to register yourself twice by submitting separate CLAT application fees. 

Q: Is there any sectional cut-off for the 5 sections in CLAT 2022?

Ans: There is no sectional cut-off for the 5 sections CLAT. Candidates have to clear the overall cut-off to get admission to the law college. 

Q: Can Btech students appear for CLAT 2022 Exam?

Ans: Students from any stream can appear for CLAT 2022 Exam. They have to pass 10+2 with a minimum of 45% marks. There is no particular degree required to apply for the CLAT 2022 UG exam.
