One question was withdrawn from evaluation, leaving 119 marks. These are previous-year papers for preparation, not the CLAT 2027 question paper.
CLAT 2026 Paper Sets and Section-wise Questions
CLAT 2026 UG was held on 7 December 2025. The four sets use different section orders. Set A starts with English, Set B with Current Affairs, Set C with Logical Reasoning and Set D with Quantitative Techniques. Use one set for a full attempt and its matching key for marking.
| Section | Questions | Paper Set A | Paper Set B | Paper Set C | Paper Set D |
|---|
| English Language | 24 | 1-24 | 55-78 | 97-120 | 69-92 |
| Current Affairs / GK | 28 | 25-52 | 1-28 | 39-66 | 93-120 |
| Legal Reasoning | 30 | 53-82 | 91-120 | 67-96 | 13-42 |
| Logical Reasoning | 26 | 83-108 | 29-54 | 1-26 | 43-68 |
| Quantitative Techniques | 12 | 109-120 | 79-90 | 27-38 | 1-12 |
| Total | 120 | 1-120 | 1-120 | 1-120 | 1-120 |
The 2024 and 2025 papers had 32 Legal Reasoning and 24 Logical Reasoning questions. In 2026, these became 30 and 26 respectively, while the overall total remained 120. The subject ranges above describe the actual 2026 booklets, rather than an approximate syllabus allocation.
The Set A solutions, Set B solutions, Set C solutions and Set D solutions accompany the paper downloads. In the solution articles, match the passage and question text because their sequence can differ from the booklet.
English Language Questions
The English passages include the Non-Cooperation Movement and human evolution. Questions ask for the main idea, a supported inference, the meaning of a word in context and the relationship between details in the passage. A passage about history still needs a reading-based answer when the question asks what the author says.
For an inference question, separate what the passage states from what merely sounds possible. In an original example, a passage may say that attendance rose after a library extended its opening hours. That supports a rise in attendance; it does not, by itself, prove that every visitor read more books. When reviewing an error, identify the extra assumption in the option you chose.
Current Affairs and General Knowledge Questions
The 2026 paper uses topics such as trade relations, visas and the significance of Chabahar Port. These are questions tied to the paper's 2025 context. Some answers depend on the passage, while others require related background knowledge.
Review these two types separately. If the information was in the passage, identify the line you missed or misread. If the question required background knowledge, revise the underlying topic: for a port, this could mean its location and strategic role; for a visa, its purpose. This avoids treating every GK error as a reading problem or memorising only an isolated answer letter.
Legal Reasoning Questions
The legal section includes material on the Preamble and constitutional governance. It combines understanding of the supplied text with questions about constitutional concepts. It would be misleading to treat the whole section as either pure legal recall or a collection of answers copied directly from passages.
For passage-based application, identify the rule, the facts needed to apply it and any exception before comparing options. For a direct factual question, recall the exact concept instead. An option can be legally familiar yet fail to answer the question asked. During review, distinguish a missing fact from a rule you understood but applied to the wrong situation.
Logical Reasoning Questions
Logical Reasoning includes sequential letter transformations and deductions from a museum-theft scenario. These tasks need different working methods. A letter puzzle benefits from writing each transformation in order; a scenario with alibis and travel times benefits from a short timeline.
Pay attention to the difference between possible and necessary. A fact may make a conclusion more plausible without being essential to it. For a question asking what must be true, test whether the conclusion could still hold if that option were false. Use only the conditions supplied, rather than adding an accomplice, a new route or another unstated event.
Quantitative Techniques Questions
The quantitative section uses insurance-survey and electricity-generation data. It tests totals, ratios, percentages and changes in quantities. Before calculating a percentage, name the denominator: all surveyed people, all insured people or people in one group can produce different answers from the same data.
Original example: suppose 240 of 600 adults are insured and 90 of those insured adults have public cover. Publicly insured adults are 37.5% of insured adults, but 15% of all surveyed adults. Both calculations are valid; the question decides which one is relevant. For energy data, keep the unit consistent and compare shares using each period's total rather than comparing only absolute output.
CLAT 2026 Answer Key and Marking Scheme
The Consortium's 16 December 2025 final-key notice retained the UG key released on 10 December. One question was withdrawn, leaving a maximum of 119 marks. The changes listed for the PG paper in that notice are separate from the UG key.
| Response | Marks |
|---|
| Correct | +1 |
| Wrong | -0.25 |
| Unanswered | 0 |
| Withdrawn question | Excluded from evaluation |
The withdrawn question is Set A: 100; Set B: 46; Set C: 18; Set D: 60. Exclude it from both correct and wrong counts. The Consortium's paper and answer-key document contains the four UG keys in Appendix II.
There was a later challenge concerning three Logical Reasoning questions. On 8 May 2026, the Allahabad High Court's Division Bench set aside the 3 February order directing revision. It upheld the answers for Set C questions 6, 9 and 13: B, D and C respectively, corresponding to Set A questions 88, 91 and 95. The earlier direction to accept both B and D for Set C question 9 should therefore not be used to mark this practice paper.
CLAT 2026 Score Example
After excluding the withdrawn question, 90 correct, 20 wrong and 9 unanswered responses give 90 - (20 × 0.25) = 85 marks out of 119. Accuracy among attempted questions is 90/110, or 81.82%. It is different from the percentage of total marks.
The 16 December result notification reported a highest UG score of 112.75. That figure is a topper's score, not an admission cutoff or a target that every candidate must reach.
Using the 2026 Paper for CLAT 2027 Preparation
Use 120 minutes for a standard full-paper attempt and mark responses on an OMR-style sheet. The 2026 result notice records 160 minutes for candidates eligible for compensatory time. Keep solutions closed during a timed attempt; an attempt with pauses or answer lookups measures a different task.
| Section | 2026 actual questions | 2027 approximate range |
|---|
| English Language | 24 | 22-26 |
| Current Affairs / GK | 28 | 28-32 |
| Legal Reasoning | 30 | 28-32 |
| Logical Reasoning | 26 | 22-26 |
| Quantitative Techniques | 12 | 10-14 |
The published 2027 format also has 120 questions and a two-hour duration, but its subject allocations are approximate. The 2026 distribution helps you practise a recent paper without treating its exact section counts as a fixed 2027 promise.
After marking, record whether each error came from a missed passage detail, an unsupported inference, a legal fact, a logical condition or a calculation. Reattempt the affected passage without the answer visible. Use another year from the CLAT previous-year paper archive for the next full test; changing only the set of the same examination can make a repeat score look stronger through familiarity.
