CLAT 2024: The exam is conducted for admission to UG and PG law courses in 22 participating NLUs and other law colleges. CLAT 2024 Registration is now open on the official portal. CLAT 2024 Exam is organized by the Consortium of National Law Universities.

The exam duration is 2 hours. According to the CLAT Exam Pattern, a total of 120 MCQ-type questions are asked in CLAT Question Paper. The exam is conducted at various centers in more than 83 cities across India.  Candidates need to clear the CLAT 2024 Cutoff to be eligible to take admission into LLB and LLM programs in prestigious NLUs.

CLAT Eligibility Criteria for admission to UG Courses requires that a candidate must have passed 10+2 with at least 45% marks with any stream. For admission to PG programmes a candidate must have a 3 or 5-year LLB degree with at least 50% marks.

What is CLAT Exam?

CLAT is a national-level Common Law Test. It is the gateway for admissions to undergraduate (UG) and postgraduate (PG) law programs. These programs are offered at 22 participating NLUs and more than 60 affiliated colleges/universities.

CLAT is conducted for admission to all NLUs while AILET is conducted for admission to NLU Delhi, specifically. However the syllabus is more or less the same but exam pattern of both exams might differ.

CLAT 2024 Eligibility Criteria

Candidates from any board and stream can apply for CLAT 2024. There are separate eligibility criteria for CLAT UG and PG Program. For details go through the following table.

CLAT 2024 Application Form

The Registration dates for CLAT 2024 are yet to be announced. The candidates need to follow the steps mentioned below to fill the Application Form of CLAT 2024.

  • Step 1: Visit the official website of CLAT
  • Step 2: To register, candidates are required to fill in the details like name, email address, mobile number, and create a password.
  • Step 3: After completing the registration, log in using your newly created ID and password.
  • Step 4: Fill in all the relevant details asked in the form carefully.
  • Step 5: Choose your preferences among the 22 national law universities.
  • Step 6: Pay the CLAT 2024 Application Fees using Net Banking/UPI/Credit Card/Debit Card.
  • Step 7: Upload the scanned copy of the following documents in jpg/jpeg format: Photograph (500KB), Signature (100KB), category certificates (2 MB).
  • Step 8: Click on the Submit button and take a printout of the CLAT 2024 Application Form same.

CLAT 2024 Application Form Correction

The Consortium of NLUs usually does not provide a further chance to correct the CLAT application forms. However, CLAT 2021 was an exception as the CNLUs increased the number of Exam cities due to COVID-19. Therefore, candidates were allowed to update their preferences for cities, as well as review and edit their name, date of birth, and reservations category if it needs any correction.

How to Download the CLAT 2024 Admit Card

CLAT 2024 Preparation Tips

To ace CLAT exam, it is crucial that candidates apply a proper strategy and are consistent with their preparation. Go through the following points for every five areas individually to know the right strategy to follow. 

  • General knowledge and Current Affairs: GK, though the toughest topic for most of the candidates carries 35 to 39 questions in the CLAT paper. Other than GK books, reading daily newspapers, following editorial and national pages help a lot in improving GK and CA sections. You can also practice GK questions from GK Today, Cloud Affairs, TCY, etc. websites. 
  • Legal Reasoning: Keep a track of the latest legal happening around the world, new amendments, the important judgments, etc. Follow some good legal blogs, read newspapers daily to increase your reading speed. Some basic concepts from constitutional law, contract law, tort law, etc must be understood while preparing for CLAT 2024 for better results. 
  • Quantitative Aptitude: Candidates are advised to complete the syllabus once and then keep practicing more and more questions to achieve 100% accuracy and increase their speed. Practicing questions will strengthen your base so you will be able to solve any questions under that topic. 
  • Logical Reasoning: Try to identify your way of solving the Reasoning. Puzzle, number series, coding-decoding all need the right approach to solve them. Practice daily 1-2 hours from your reasoning book, follow the right, easy and fast solution, and keep practicing thoroughly.

Ans.
CLAT Preparation requires 6 months to 1 year time. If you are a student of Humanities, 6 months are good enough for preparation. Students of other streams must try to give at least 1 year for CLAT preparation.

How to Raise Objection Against CLAT 2024 Answer Key

There is also an option available for candidates to raise objections in case the CLAT answer key contains some incorrect answers or discrepancies. The expert committee will review all the objections, and if your objections are valid they will revise the key accordingly. 

If candidates want to raise their objections against the answer key they have to follow the below-mentioned procedure. 

  • On the CLAT registration portal candidates will find a "Raise objections" button, under the 'Answer Key' section. 
  • Enter the question number candidates have objections about. 
  • Complete your payment, and your objection is raised.

CLAT 2024 Rank Card - Tie-Breaking Criteria

If two or more candidates secure the same score, CLAT Consortium will break the tie of two or more candidates to allot their ranks by adopting some tie-breaking rules given below. The CLAT tie-breaking rules are as follows:

  • The candidate who will get higher marks in the Legal Aptitude section will be ranked higher.
  • The older candidate among them will be ranked higher.
  • If the tie is still unresolved after two rules, the CLAT authority will do the computerized draw for ranking.

CLAT 2024 Counselling

The Consortium of NLUs conducts CLAT Counselling for the invited candidates through an online centralized process. The CLAT 2024 Counseling process will be done as per the CLAT 2024 Exam Dates scheduled by the conducting authorities. You can expect the Counselling to be conducted soon after the publication of the CLAT 2024 Result and Merit list. 

The stepwise procedure for attaining the CLAT Counselling Process is as follows:

  • Step 1: After the publication of CLAT Results and Merit lists, based on rank, the first list for CLAT counselling will be released. 
  • Step 2: Candidates have to choose 5 NLUs taking into consideration their achieved rank and score against the seats available. 
  • Step 3: After filling up their choices candidates must pay INR 30,000 as a Registration Fee to be provisionally selected. 
  • Step 4: The candidates who have registered successfully for the Seat Allotment Lists will be published for them on the official website.
