CLAT LLM Eligibility 2027

The lower marks threshold applies to the stated categories. OBC or EWS status alone does not make the PG minimum 45%. An appearing candidate must still complete the qualifying degree and produce the required proof when admitted.

Eligibility for taking CLAT and the conditions attached to a particular university seat are related but not identical. Reservation, programme choices and document requirements belong to the NLU admission rules as well.

CLAT PG Dates and Application Fee

Bank transaction charges are additional. The application fee is non-refundable and is not the later counselling or university fee. A saved but unpaid application is not a completed submission.

Choose PG correctly before paying. The programme, category and BPL fields cannot be changed after submission and payment. A second application is not a free correction: only the last application is considered and the earlier fee is not refunded.

CLAT LLM Syllabus: All Law Subjects

The grouped rows contain all 13 named law areas: Constitutional Law, Jurisprudence, Administrative Law, Contract, Torts, Family Law, Criminal Law, Property Law, Company Law, Public International Law, Tax Law, Environmental Law, and Labour and Industrial Law.

Questions follow extracts from primary legal material. They test understanding of the passage, knowledge of related law, the ability to summarise and application to a fact situation. The published format does not divide the paper into a guaranteed 50% Constitutional Law block and 50% other subjects.

When reading a judgment, separate the issue, legal rule, reason for the decision and outcome. Memorising the case name alone does not answer a question that changes a material fact or asks why the court rejected an argument.

CLAT PG Exam Pattern and Marking

There is no essay section in the published 2027 format. Do not reserve exam time for a descriptive component from an older preparation guide.

For example, 80 correct, 24 wrong and 16 unanswered responses give 74 marks: 80 - (24 × 0.25). That is a raw-score calculation, not a percentile or an admission prediction. A future final key may affect scoring if the authority changes or withdraws questions; use the applicable final result rules when that stage arrives.

How to Prepare Legal Extracts

1. Identify the legal issue before making case notes.
2. Write the rule or statutory provision that decides the issue.
3. Separate the court’s reasoning from facts and submissions.
4. Test the rule against a changed fact pattern.
5. Record why the closest wrong option fails.

For a statute extract, notice the defined terms, conditions, exceptions and the authority empowered to act. Replacing “may” with “must”, or overlooking an exception, can change the answer even when the general topic is familiar.

Use degree-level notes to repair a legal gap exposed by a question. Repeatedly rereading a passage will not supply background doctrine that the PG syllabus expects you to know. Conversely, outside knowledge should not make you ignore a specific definition supplied in the problem.

CLAT PG Result, Ties and LLM Admission

For equal PG scores, the tie-break order is higher age followed by a computerised draw of lots. The UG Legal Aptitude tie-break is not a separate PG ranking rule.

After results, eligible candidates follow the admission-counselling invitation, preference and payment process. A rank does not by itself confirm a university place: seat category, programme preferences, documents and the university’s conditions also apply. The 2027 FAQ places counselling broadly in December 2026/January 2027; it does not establish exact round dates.

Foreign nationals apply directly to the relevant NLU rather than taking CLAT. NRI/NRI-sponsored seats also require direct NLU contact under the current instructions; the Consortium does not allot those categories. Do not combine those routes with the ordinary counselling list.
