The reservation policy under CLAT 2025 is different for all 24 National Law Universities (NLUs) and has relatively more significant bearing on the admission chances of applicants. For example, the NLSIU Bengaluru has introduced a 10-seat reservation for Kannadiga students. Each participating NLUs has the right to determine its reservation policy for undergraduate and postgraduate law courses. This article discusses the Reservation Matrix under CLAT 2025, the distribution of seats within various categories, and all such other relevant details that serve as guidance for any aspiring candidate seeking to understand the admission process better.

From the total seats offered at all the NLUs, a reservation is provided to different categories including OBC, SC, ST, PWD, KM, Armed Forces and more. Know here all about CLAT 2025 Reservation Policy for all NLUs in detail.

The CLAT 2025 cutoff will vary across NLUs and categories, but candidates can expect the general category cutoff to range between 90-95 marks out of 150, with reserved categories having relatively lower cutoff marks.

Note: As all the participating NLUs of CLAT 2025 are situated in various States and Union Territories across India, the reservation policy will vary accordingly.

CLAT 2025 Seat Intake

The seat intake for CLAT 2025 will vary across the 22 participating NLUs, with an estimated total of 2,500 seats for undergraduate programs and 800 for postgraduate programs. Each NLU will allocate seats based on categories such as General, OBC, SC, ST, PwD, and others, in line with the reservation policy. The detailed seat matrix for CLAT 2025 will be released in the official notification, helping candidates make informed decisions during the counseling process.

NALSAR Hyderabad Reservation Policy

Specially Abled Persons (SAP) are provided 5% horizontal reservation, with 5 seats available for LLB and 3 for LLM.

For foreign nationals, 15 seats are reserved for LLB courses: 7 seats for SAARC candidates and 8 for non-SAARC citizens. Additionally, 10 seats are reserved for LLB courses, with 5 seats for SAARC candidates and 5 for non-SAARC citizens.

Dr. Ram Manohar Lohiya National Law University, Lucknow reserves 21% of UG seats for SC (UP), 27% for OBC (UP), and 2% for ST (UP). 20% of UG seats are reserved for females, with 5% for SAP. The policy also includes 10% EWS, 16 supernumerary seats for NRI/NRI Sponsored/Foreign Nationals, and quotas for freedom fighters' dependents and defence personnel wards.

The reservation policy for CLAT 2025 at Maharashtra-based institutions allocates 100 UG seats and 50 PG seats. Key allocations include 19% for OBC, 13% for SC, and 7% for ST. HPNLU Shimla Reservation Policy
