CLAT 2024 Quantitative Techniques: Practice Questions

Here are some previous year's questions set, a candidate must practice these.

Ques 1) If 3M2680 is divisible by 11, then the value of M is?

  1. A) 5
  2. B) 7
  3. C) 6
  4. D) 1

Sol: (Sum of Odd place digit) - ( sum of Even place digit)

= (3 + 2+ 8) - ( M + 6 + 0 )

= 13 - 6 - M

= 7 - M (Either 0 or divisible by 11)

= 7 - M = 0

M = 7 (Ans)

Ques 2) Suman saves 10% of her monthly salary. Now her expenditure increases by 30% and savings increases by 50%. The present increase in her salary is

  1. A) 25%
  2. B) 30%
  3. C) 32%
  4. D) 40%

Ans. Let's Suman salary = 100

Then she usually saves = 10% of 100 = Rs. 10

So, usual expenditure = 90

Now she expenses = 90 + 30% of 90 = Rs. 117

Her new savings = 10 + 50% of 10 = Rs. 15

We know that, Income/ Salary = Expenditure + Savings

Here, new salary will be ( New Expenditure + New Savings ) = Rs. 117 + 15 = Rs. 132

Thus, Suman's Salary increased by 32/100 × 100 = 32% (Ans.)

Ques. 3) The marked price of an article is 20% more than the cost price. If the article is sold at a discount of 15% on its marked price, then the gain percent is

  4. D) 3
