BBDNIIT, Lucknow in a nutshell
Remarks :
I chose this college as it offered the course I am interested in (Btech CSE) in the city I dwell in. Of course this college isn't the best choice there is and I definitely won't compare it to any other colleges outside of the city of Lucknow, but in this particular city this college is ranked among the few good colleges which can be considered affordable. Babu Banarasi Das Northern India institute of technology is affiliated to Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Azad Technical University (AKTU) situated in Lucknow and to enter this college you will have to apply for admission and you will be admittted on the basis of your JEE mains score card. If you have a rank under 7 lakh (general category) in the JEE mains exam you will be able to avail a seat in the college, other ways of admission include Management quota seats which are mostly reserved on the first come first serve basis.
Course Curriculum Overview :
The course curriculum for this college is designed by AKTU and to be honest it isn't the best curriculum there is as the information provided in the curriculum is pretty dated and most of it will not help you secure a job once you are ready for the job market but that's just true for any other univeristy in India. The faculty here is average and it depends on your luck, sonetimes you will get good teachers, even remarkable teachers but then sometimes you may come across teachers that won't really give you a very positive impression. There is a system of reviews for the teachers at the end of each semester and they do take the reviews into consideration on improving their teachers but it mostly isn't enough. The end semester exams are scheduled by AKTU and the most frustrating thing about them is that they are never on time. Other universities end their semesters almost on the same time but AKTU is always late in making that happen, also the checking in these in horrendous
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
The tuition fees for each year remain around the mark of ? 1 lakh, registration fee which is applicable during the admission is ?5000. The fees can be paid annually or semester wise, the fees for the odd semester are paid in the month of August while for the even semester it is paid in the month of March. There have been no substantial inflation in the curriculum fees and they are contant for the most part. Apart from the tuition fee if we talk about accomodation (Hostel) the figure roughly sums up to an additional ?1 lakh yearly. So anyone who is wishing to get an admission into the college will be paying around ?5 lakh during the completion of their course and an additional sum of ?4 lakh (roughly) if they require an accomodation in the college presmises itself. Aprt from these if a day scholar wants to avail the facility of being picked up from their homes in the city, they will be paying an additional ?30000 per year to avail bus wervices from the college itself.
Campus Life :
Campus life at BBDNIIT is pretty average, there are three canteens and a cafe in the college campus, for sports there is a sports complex and a stadium built to the international standards for cricket, there is also a synthetic lawn tennis court but the main highlight is that the college would rarely allow you to participate in extra curriculars during college hours, also the technical clubs have it the worst cause we rarely get permissions to organize technical events in the college. The annual college fest "Utkarsh" is also kind of a hoax cause it rarely falls at a time when aktu is not having their end semester exams (always late). It is jointly hosted by the three colleges under BBD educational group [BBDITM, BBDU, BBDNIIT] so the strength of participation is astronomical, apart from this event, the college life is essentially devoid of any cultural extravaganzas in BBDNIIT. The library of BBDNIIT is loaded with quality books and journals with continued replenishment

The course curriculum is well structured and covers both theoretical and practical knowledge which helps to build a strong foundation for a subject like biomedical. I always had interest in human health and diseases which is why I chose this course. Faculties are always willing to clear doubts as they are well qualified in there particular domain. And overall I feel the course provides a good academic environment for students. there is a academic calendar provided which gets updated time to time and exam are conducted according to this calendar only.

Campus placements start from the 7th semester for students, once the University criteria is fulfilled. As B. Tech Biotechnology is a newly introduced course, there is no Branch wise Placement data available for B.Tech Biotechnology as of now but the university does attract companies like Nestlé, Yakult, Dabur, Cognizant, Accenture, Infosys, HCLTech, and so on. The university stated the overall highest package was 60 LPA and the average placement was around 5.4 LPA. My ambition is to pursue a career in Biotechnology in R&D or QA/QC or Biopharmaceutical industry after graduation and enhance my technical knowledge.
