Government First Grade College, Bettampady was established in 1991 by the Govt. of Karnataka in Puttur City. The college affiliated with Mangalore University is recognized by UGC under sections 2(f) and 12(b) and reaccredited with a grade of B+ by NAAC. GFGC Bettampady offers B.A, B.Com, BBA, BSW, and B.Sc. Admission to the college is based on merit.

The college offers B.Sc in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Computer Science. The course fee is INR 4980 for the first year. GFGC organizes free Job Training & Placements for GFGC Students via ICICI Academy for Skills, CADD Centre.
