National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research was established in 2007 under the Aegis of the Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers as a center of excellence for research and development and higher education in pharmaceutical sciences. 

  • The institute was declared an Institute of National Importance by the Government of India through an Act of Parliament.
  • This followed the establishment of NIPER Mohali, the first national institute in pharmaceutical sciences with a proclaimed objective of becoming a center of excellence for advanced studies and research in pharmaceutical sciences.
  •  NIPERs are conceived to provide leadership in pharmaceutical sciences and related areas not only within the country, but also to the countries in SouthEast Asia, South Asia, and Africa.

NIPER Kolkata Admission

Admissions into any program in NIPER are based on GPAT (GRADUATE PHARMACY APTITUDE TEST) followed by JEE (JOINT ENTRANCE EXAMINATION) organized and conducted by NIPERs every year. To be a part of this Institution, the candidate needs to fulfill the eligibility criteria. The NIPER provides admissions on a merit basis.

How to Apply?

  • Step-1: You need to register first to the official website by creating an account by entering your phone number/ email address and setting up a password.
  • Step-2: Visit http://www.niperhyd.ac.in, the official link to start the application process. 
  • Step-3: There are 4 steps to follow afterward your registration, First among them is to pay the application fee. Candidates can make Online Fee Payments through Debit/Credit Card/Net Banking. 
  • Step-4: After that, students will know the payment status to check the Success/Failure status of the Fee Payment. Students need to ensure that their fee is paid before moving forward.
  • Step-5: Candidates are required to fill the application form and upload all the required details with an image, signature and other documents asked. Students need to check the form carefully before clicking the 'Submit' button.
  • Step-6: After the application form submission, the candidate can print the submitted form for their personal use.

NIPER Kolkata Placements

Every year students of the university are placed in reputed pharma and pharma research organizations. Both public and private sector organisations participate in the NIPER Kolkata placement drive. The university has a placement team that trains students and prepares them for the placements. Students are also provided with internship opportunities. Generally students opt for higher education and research after passing from NIPER. As per the National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (NIPER) Kolkata placement report, 2019-20 (NIRF report), 27 students from PG 2 year courses (pharmacy stream) were eligible for placement. Out of 27 students, 11 students got placed and 13 students opted for higher education.

  • Pharma companies such as Aragen, Novartis, Oxygen Healthcare, Jhonson and Johnson, Syngene, Indense Health, AXIO visit the institute and hire students.
  • As per NIPER Kolkata placement 2019-20, the median salary offered to PG 2 year programmes students (pharmacy stream) was Rs. 3,50,000 per annum. 

NIPER Kolkata Scholarships

The Institute doesn't have provisions of Scholarships but provides financial assistance to students in Master's and PhD programs. The details of which are given below.

  • All the admitted students, except for those candidates Sponsored by Research and Development Organization, Govt. Departments, Public Sector undertaking/ Reputed Private Pharmaceutical Enterprises, will be provided with a stipend of Rs. 12,400 per month subject to obtaining a minimum CGPA of 6.00 in each semester.
  • All the PhD candidates will be provided with fellowships requiring the student to score 6.50 CGPA or more in each semester.
