JIS University Admission Dates 2026

Admission activity for the 2026-27 session is continuing. Depending on the programme, JIS University considers JEE Main, WBJEE, NEET UG and JET scores. Counselling and seat allocation continue during October, while the academic session may begin by November 2026.

JIS University Courses and Fees

More than 50 programmes are taught through nine faculties at JIS University. Complete programme fees start at INR 1.42 Lakhs for B.Ed and reach INR 6.69 Lakhs for B.Tech and B.Pharm.

The four M.Pharm options are Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Pharmaceutics, Pharmacology and Pharmaceutical Quality Assurance. Each costs INR 3.09 Lakhs for two years. Within the M.Sc group, Remote Sensing and GIS has a fee of INR 2.25 Lakhs, compared with the standard M.Sc charge of INR 1.69 Lakhs.

JIS University Admission Process

JIS University selects students through merit and accepted entrance tests, including its own JET. Applications and JET registration are handled online at jisuniversity.ac.in. B.Tech, B.Pharm and B.Sc applicants do not face a Group Discussion or Personal Interview. MBA applicants complete GD and PI after being shortlisted.

B.Tech Admission

Applicants need Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics in Class 12, with at least 45% in PCM for the General category. Selection may use JEE Main, WBJEE or JET performance. JET covers Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics and is held in August each year. The admission stages are:

• Upload the qualifying score through the JIS University portal.
• Wait for the merit list prepared from JEE Main, WBJEE or JET performance.
• Attend counselling, select a branch and complete seat allotment.
• Verify the required documents and pay the fee to secure admission.

Students may choose CSE, AI and Machine Learning, Cyber Security, Data Sciences, Internet of Things or Software Product Engineering. The total four-year fee for every B.Tech specialisation is INR 6.69 Lakhs.

B.Pharm Admission

For B.Pharm, Class 12 must include Physics and Chemistry along with Mathematics or Biology. A minimum of 45% marks is needed. The university uses NEET UG, WBJEE or JET scores for admission. PCI approval of the programme allows graduates to seek pharmacist licence registration in India.

MBA Admission

A graduation degree with at least 50% aggregate marks is required for MBA admission. CAT, MAT, CMAT and JET scores are accepted. After shortlisting, applicants take part in a Group Discussion and Personal Interview. The available specialisations are General Management and Digital Marketing.

Law, Science and Commerce UG Programmes

The three-year LLB accepts graduates from any stream, while the five-year integrated BBA LLB is open to Class 12 students from any stream. CLAT and JET are accepted for both law courses. Class 12 merit or CUET UG results are used for BCA, BBA, B.Sc and BMLT. B.Ed selection follows West Bengal Joint Entrance Board rules for the education entrance examination.

Postgraduate and Doctoral Programmes

M.Pharm applicants need a B.Pharm degree and GPAT or JET performance. Admission to M.Sc requires graduation in the relevant subject and may be based on CUET PG or JET. For a Ph.D., applicants must hold a postgraduate degree with at least 55% marks and qualify through UGC NET, GATE or the JIS Doctoral Entrance Test.

JIS University Placements

B.Tech in CSE and AI/ML and the B.Pharm programme account for much of the university's placement activity. The 2023-24 drive recorded a top offer of INR 23.5 LPA, while the average reported by JIS University was INR 4.5 LPA.

CSE and AI/ML graduates enter software development, data analytics and IT services. B.Pharm students find work with pharmaceutical businesses, hospital pharmacies and clinical research organisations. MBA placement areas include banking, FMCG and digital marketing agencies.

Dr. Reddy's Laboratories, Mindtree, Zscaler and Kotak Mahindra are confirmed campus recruiters. Student startups in technology, pharmaceuticals and agri-tech can receive support from the campus incubator.

JIS University Rankings

In the NIRF Pharmacy category, JIS University advanced from the 101-125 band in 2024 to 97th out of 125 institutions in 2025. This ranking covers its academic and research work in pharmaceutical sciences.

JIS University has NAAC Grade A accreditation, but it does not currently feature in the NIRF Overall, University or Engineering lists. UGC recognises the university, and AICTE, BCI, PCI and NMC recognise its relevant academic offerings.

JIS University Scholarships

Scholarship support includes admission-time merit awards and concessions for students from economically weaker groups. Decisions consider Class 12 board results and entrance examination performance.

Eligible students may also apply through the West Bengal Scholarship Portal for state schemes or through NSP for central government support. Before every admission cycle, JIS University publishes scholarship information on its admission portal.

JIS University Campus and Infrastructure

The university operates from 81, Nilgunj Road in Agarpara, Kolkata. Its academic facilities include smart classrooms and laboratories for engineering, pharmacy, biotechnology, agriculture science, remote sensing and GIS. A campus incubator assists ventures started by students and alumni in technology, pharmaceuticals and agri-tech.

Separate on-campus hostels are provided for male and female students, with annual charges of up to INR 36,000 per year. Students also have access to Wi-Fi, sports facilities, a cafeteria and a central library with digital material. Separate academic blocks house the JIS School of Medical Science and Research, JIS Institute of Advanced Studies and Research and JIS Institute of Law.

PCI-approved pharmacy laboratories support work in pharmaceutical chemistry, pharmaceutics and pharmacognosy. Engineering students use specialised AI, cybersecurity, IoT and software development laboratories. Practical training for agriculture students takes place at the campus experimental farm and greenhouse.

JIS University vs Brainware University vs UEM Kolkata

Students comparing private universities in the Kolkata metropolitan area may consider JIS University, nearby Brainware University in Agarpara and the University of Engineering and Management, Kolkata. Each institution offers overlapping choices in engineering and management, although their academic strengths, accreditation and fees differ.

Among the three, JIS University has the higher NAAC grade, with A compared with Brainware's B++ and UEM Kolkata's B+. It is also the only institution in this comparison with a confirmed NIRF category position, ranking 97th in Pharmacy in 2025. Brainware offers engineering, IT and nursing and may suit students looking at lower fees. UEM Kolkata has operated longer and has a larger engineering alumni base, but it is not currently NIRF-ranked. JIS University combines pharmacy, engineering, law and agriculture within one institution.
