What Is Maharashtra SSC?

The Secondary School Certificate (SSC) is Maharashtra’s Class 10 board examination, conducted by the Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (MSBSHSE). HSC is the separate Class 12 examination. Both appear in some board notices, but their dates and application records are different.

The school handles the SSC examination form, checks student details and provides the hall ticket. Private candidates first complete the applicable enrollment process and then submit the exam application through the designated school. Enrollment alone does not complete the examination form.

Maharashtra SSC Exam Dates 2027

The board’s 17 September notice sets out the tentative examination windows. Your individual subject dates will be listed in the detailed SSC timetable. The practical and internal-assessment period is earlier than the written examination.

For written papers, match the subject name and medium in the final timetable with your school record. For practicals and oral assessments, the school will arrange the individual assessment dates within the applicable period. Do not use the HSC column to make a Class 10 schedule.

Maharashtra SSC Registration 2027

Regular students apply through their school. The school uses the student’s UDISE+ PEN-ID to obtain details; students without an available UDISE record require the full details to be entered. The circular asks for an APAAR ID where available, rather than making it an unconditional requirement for every student.

The extra-late period carries an additional INR 10 per student per day. This is different from the extra-late charge for private Form 17 enrollment. The school pays the consolidated examination fee online; the old bank-challan method is not used.

How to Check Whether Your Form Is Complete

Check the printed pre-list with your parent against the school General Register. Name, date of birth, subjects and photograph should match the supporting records. The student and parent sign the checked record, and the principal signs and stamps it.

A saved form is not necessarily a submitted form. Ask the school to confirm “Send to Board” for the application and “Paid” for the fee. A form left in Draft is not processed. Hall-ticket generation also depends on the required fee payment.

SSC Photograph Requirements

Use a recent colour passport photograph taken within the last six months. The image must be a JPEG/JPG file of 25–40 KB, with a white or plain background and a clear front-facing view. Both eyes and ears should be visible; hair or a mask must not cover the face. Glasses should not create glare.

Changing a file name from .png to .jpg does not convert the image. Save it in JPEG format and check the file size before the school uploads it. The circular prefers a photograph in school uniform.

The photograph cannot be changed after the application is forwarded or the hall ticket is generated. Check the actual uploaded image on the school record, not just the photograph saved on your phone.

Maharashtra SSC Form 17 for Private Candidates

Form 17 is private-candidate enrollment, not the SSC exam application. After an eligible candidate receives the enrollment certificate, the examination form and school assessments still have to be completed.

The late-enrollment charge is INR 100 per student. During 16–31 October, the extra-late charge is INR 20 per student per day. These enrollment charges are separate from the school examination application schedule.

The process requires previous-school information, a mobile number and email address, a passport photograph, Aadhaar and the applicable school-leaving record. Where the original leaving certificate is unavailable, the notice describes a second-copy and affidavit route. Print the completed form and payment receipt, then submit them with the required original records to the designated school.

The school also handles the subsequent examination form and practical, oral or internal assessments. Students claiming disability provisions need the applicable disability certificate or UDID documentation. The notice also permits the stated Form 17 route for Maharashtra State Board of Open Schooling students who have passed Class 5 or Class 8; the enrollment checks still apply.

Maharashtra SSC Exam Pattern

The written-paper format depends on the subject. Mathematics, Science and Social Sciences have separate parts; a 40-mark Algebra paper is not the whole Mathematics examination. The table gives the format printed on the 2025 papers for the listed subjects.

The Maharashtra SSC 2025 question papers show the instructions, question choices and paper codes for each part. English First Language and English Third Language both had 80 marks and three hours, but they were different papers. Use the language route on your own registration, not just a download titled “English”.

The figures above describe those written papers, not every subject’s complete assessment total. Practical, oral and internal assessments follow the applicable subject requirements. The 2027 paper instructions will determine the choices and marking for that examination.

Maharashtra SSC Maths and Science Topics

Mathematics Part I: Algebra

These are the six chapters in the Balbharati Mathematics Part I textbook. Geometry is a separate Part II paper; completing Algebra alone does not cover Mathematics. In a word problem, define the unknowns before forming the equations. In Arithmetic Progression, identify whether the question asks for one term or the sum of several terms before choosing the formula.

Science and Technology Part 1

Gravitation; Periodic Classification of Elements; Chemical Reactions and Equations; Effects of Electric Current; Heat; Refraction of Light; Lenses; Metallurgy; Carbon Compounds; Space Missions.

For Gravitation, distinguish mass from weight and keep units in the calculation. In Electricity, a formula for power is not automatically the formula for electrical energy. For Lenses, practise a labelled ray diagram alongside the numerical calculation. In Chemistry, balance the equation and include the reaction condition where the question requires it.

Science and Technology Part 2

Heredity and Evolution; Life Processes in Living Organisms Part 1; Life Processes in Living Organisms Part 2; Environmental Management; Towards Green Energy; Animal Classification; Introduction to Microbiology; Cell Biology and Biotechnology; Social Health; Disaster Management.

Link each biological process to its steps and outcome. For example, an answer about reproduction needs more than a list of structures: explain the role of the structures named in the question. For Animal Classification, connect the group to its defining features. For Microbiology and Biotechnology, distinguish the organism or technique from its application.

These chapter lists cover the named Balbharati books. They do not assign chapter-wise marks: a textbook chapter list is not a weightage chart. Use the full subject syllabus and the appropriate Part I or Part II paper when planning revision.

Languages, Social Sciences and Previous-Year Papers

For English, practise the task asked in the activity sheet: language study, reading, writing or a literature response. A general essay does not answer a letter-writing prompt. Keep the required format, purpose and given details in the answer. Hindi and other language papers must also match the language level registered with the school.

History and Political Science belong to Social Sciences Paper I; Geography is Paper II. In History, connect the event, person and contribution instead of memorising an isolated name. In Geography, read the map, diagram or data before writing the explanation. Keep map-based work in your written practice rather than leaving it for revision by reading alone.

Begin with the 2026 SSC question papers and solutions, then use a matching 2025 paper for another attempt. The 2024 papers add older subject practice. Match the year, part, medium and paper code before comparing your work with a solution.

The Maharashtra SSC previous-year paper collection brings the available years together. After an attempt, separate a missing concept from a calculation error or an incomplete written step. Rewrite the answer that lost marks rather than copying the entire solution set.

Maharashtra SSC Hall Ticket and Corrections

The 2027 hall-ticket release date has not been announced. In 2026, schools could download hall tickets from 20 January 2026, print them and provide copies signed and stamped by the principal. Schools were not allowed to collect an additional printing fee.

The 2026 correction process treated identity and subject errors differently. Name, mother’s name, date of birth and place-of-birth corrections used the Application Correction route and Divisional Board approval. A subject or medium error had to be taken to the Divisional Board through the school’s usual process.

If the photograph was defective, the school could affix the correct photograph and attest it. A lost hall ticket could be reprinted by the school and marked “Duplicate”. These were the 2026 arrangements; the 2027 hall-ticket notice will govern the new batch.

Maharashtra SSC Result and Best Five Percentage

The 2027 result date has not been announced. The previous SSC result was released on 8 May 2026 at 1 pm, with subject marks available online and digital records through DigiLocker.

How Best Five Works

The board’s Best Five method uses the highest five marks from six compulsory subjects to calculate the total out of 500 and the percentage. It has applied from the March 2010 examination. The £ symbol on the marksheet identifies the Best Five percentage.

For example, consider six subject totals of 88, 84, 79, 76, 71 and 65. The highest five add to 398, giving 398 ÷ 500 × 100 = 79.6%. This is a percentage calculation, not a substitute for the printed pass status. Best Five does not mean that you can choose to skip the sixth examination.

What the Marksheet Symbols Mean

Read the result status and the entry beside each subject together. Carried-forward marks are not a fresh score in that attempt, and an absent entry is not a numerical zero that you should silently replace in a percentage calculation.

Revaluation and Improvement Exams

For the 2026 result, verification and answer-book photocopy applications ran from 9–23 May 2026. Revaluation required the answer-book photocopy first; the application then had to be made within five working days of receiving the photocopy. Verification, obtaining a copy and revaluation were separate steps.

Students who passed all subjects in the February–March 2026 examination were given three consecutive improvement opportunities: June–July 2026, February–March 2027 and June–July 2027. This matters to a 2026 passer considering the 2027 examination: the attempt is part of the stated improvement sequence, not a new first-time SSC registration.

A student repeating a failed subject and a student improving an all-subject pass result have different application categories. Give the school the previous marksheet and the correct attempt details so it can use the appropriate examination form. The post-result deadlines for the 2027 result will be separate from the expired May 2026 window.
