UP Board Class 10 question papers for 2025 are available for Mathematics, Science, English, Hindi, Social Science, Sanskrit, Computer, Home Science, Commerce and Drawing. Download the subject-wise question papers.

The papers included MCQs and written answers. Mathematics had calculations and geometry problems, Science combined numerical questions with equations and diagrams, and English covered reading, writing, grammar and literature.

UP Board Class 10 Question Paper 2025: Marks and Format

The Mathematics 822 (BV), Science 824 (CJ) and English 817 (BH) papers were each worth 70 marks. Their covers allowed three hours and 15 minutes, with the first 15 minutes reserved for reading. The papers combined one-mark multiple-choice questions with longer written answers.

In Mathematics and English, Part A had 20 MCQs worth one mark each, answered on an OMR sheet. Part B carried 50 marks. The Science CJ paper also had a 20-mark Part A and a 50-mark descriptive Part B, with Physics, Chemistry and Biology questions grouped into three subsections.

Mathematics 2025: What Appeared in Code 822 (BV)

The Mathematics 822 (BV) paper and solutions cover both short calculations and longer problems. In the one-mark section, question 5 used a grouped frequency table, while question 6 showed a triangle with a line parallel to its base. The first required a mean; the second used the relationship between corresponding sides.

Part B had five main questions. Question 1 contained six two-mark parts. Question 2 offered six four-mark parts, of which any five were required. Questions 3, 4 and 5 carried six marks each. Part B therefore carried 12 + 20 + 18 = 50 marks.

Statistics and probability appeared again in question 2. One part gave a median of 28.5 and a total frequency of 60, then asked for missing frequencies. Another described 132 good pens and 12 defective pens and asked for the probability of selecting a good one.

The final questions included height-and-distance problems and combined solids. Question 5 offered a cylinder with hemispherical hollows or a cone standing on a hemisphere. In the second choice, the total height belonged to the combined solid, not to the cone alone. That distinction changes the dimensions used in the volume calculation.

Science 2025: Calculations, Equations and Diagrams

In Science 824 (CJ), the descriptive section began with optics. Question 1 included a concave-mirror calculation and a refraction diagram. Later questions covered lens power, resistance and heating. One six-mark choice combined equivalent resistance with charge and heat calculations; its alternative asked about magnetic field lines and force on a current-carrying conductor.

Question 5 in Chemistry asked for structural formulae, including ethanoic acid and butanone. Question 6 covered copper alloys and the extraction of copper from copper sulphide. Question 7 offered short notes on neutralisation, plaster of Paris and pH, or equations for reactions of metals with water.

The Biology questions included vegetative propagation, synapses, auxin and the parts of a pond ecosystem. The final six-mark question offered a comparison of autotrophic and heterotrophic nutrition or an explanation of the human alimentary canal with a diagram.

English 2025: Reading, Writing, Grammar and Literature

The English 817 (BH) paper opened with a reading passage about Subhash Chandra Bose in Part A. Its descriptive reading passage focused on work, self-respect and character. The questions included short explanations and a one-word response, so reading comprehension appeared in both parts of the paper.

Writing included a four-mark letter or application. The choices were a letter inviting a friend for the summer vacation and an application about improving the school library. A separate six-mark question offered an 80–100-word report on a science exhibition or an article on the uses and misuses of mobile phones, with prompts supplied in the paper.

Grammar covered indirect speech, passive voice, punctuation and Hindi-to-English translation. The translation passage referred to Prayagraj. Literature questions drew on characters and ideas from the prescribed texts, including Lencho, Nelson Mandela, Valli, Anne Frank and Kisa Gautami. The poetry choices included Fire and Ice, Animals and A Tiger in the Zoo.

The requested answer length varied: some literature answers were about 30–40 words, others about 60 words, while the central-idea question asked for about 40–50 words.

Hindi and Social Science: Different Kinds of Written Answers

The Hindi 801 (BA) paper included poetry-based questions asking for context and explanation. Sanskrit prose and verse passages had to be translated into Hindi with context. Other questions covered authors and poets, a memorised verse, letter writing and an essay. The essay choices included literature and society, Swachh Bharat, voting in a democracy, a favourite poet and women’s empowerment.

Another question offered a character sketch or summary from the khanda-kavya studied at school.

In Social Science 825 (BAS), the first descriptive group asked for answers of about 80 words. Topics included the First World War’s effect on India, regional parties, transport and consumer rights. The next group asked for about 150 words and carried six marks per question. It included nationalism, federal government, sectors of the economy and conservation.

The marks were sometimes divided within a question. An informal-credit alternative used a 2 + 2 + 2 split for its definition, need and challenge. Both the shorter and longer answer groups included internal choices.
