The 3-day Vadodara Startup Festival (VSF) has returned with its fourth edition for aspiring entrepreneurs. VSF 4.0 is a celebration of innovation, collaboration, and entrepreneurship. Parul University has hosted and organized the Vadodara Startup Festival 4.0 from February 26 to February 28, 2024. The festival has entertained industry leaders, aspiring entrepreneurs, and inquisitive students eager to learn and explore the startup ecosystem in one place. This year’s festival hosted a diverse array of startups, highlighting the inventiveness, innovation, and creativity of the entrepreneurial community. From disruptive technological ventures to innovative startups, the festival provided a platform for all sorts of entrepreneurial ventures.

During Vadodara Startup Festival 4.0, the students 25000+ attendees, and aspiring entrepreneurs got the opportunity to engage and interact with investors, and industry experts. The attendees also met with some of the successful entrepreneurs through excerpt sessions, presentations, panel discussions, and interactive workshops. The festival hosted by Parul University created an entrepreneurship culture that empowers students so that they can turn their ideas into reality. VSF 4.0 hosted 70+ eminent speakers, 10+ Unicorn Startup founders, 50+ investors, 100+ industry leaders, and 250+ startup founders. With networking, students can also engage in competitions such as The Pitchers. In this competition, entrepreneurs pitch their ideas in front of industry giants, investors, and Startup Nivesh for investment opportunities. 28 revenue-generating startups, selected from 78 applications across the nation, were given the chance to pitch their ideas to investors.

The key theme of the Vadodara Startup Festival 4.0 is collaborations. Through networking, students connected with investors, mentors, and unicorn founders. Events such as Start-up Eco Meet, Startup Samvad, Industry Round Table, and Unicorn House aimed to bridge the gap between successful founders, aspiring entrepreneurs, and eminent personalities. This opportunity can provide young entrepreneurs with deeper insights from experienced people. The investors, mentors, and founders can share their journey, the strategies they took, the challenges they overcame, and the opportunities they grabbed for building a successful business. The students can also showcase their startup products or services for similar interests and potential partnerships, investments, and collaborations. During the 3-day startup festival, products and services across various sectors such as spiritual services, organic food, education, industrial training oriented, and handicraft items, among others, were showcased.

Vadodara Startup Festival 4.0 also saw eminent personalities join the discussion on entrepreneurship and the startup ecosystem of the country. Mr. Ramanan Ramanathan served as the First Mission Director of the Atal Innovation Mission and currently serves as the Advisor/Board Member for Innovation, Entrepreneurship, and Sustainability to Schools, Universities, and NGOs. the Hon’ble Chief Guest of the fourth edition of the Vadodara Startup Festival 4.0 has stressed on the importance of entrepreneurship during his interactive session with the students. He said, “No other topic is as relevant today as that of innovation and entrepreneurship.” Further adding to it he said, “We are now living in India, which is the fastest growing startup ecosystem.” Shedding some light on the idea of startup festivals like these, he was quoted saying to the students, “The startup festival is your opportunity to dare to dream and dream to dare.”

The Chief Innovation Officer at the Ministry of Education, Government of India, and the current Vice Chairman of AICTE, Dr. Abhay Jere, was the Honorary Guest at the festival. He also addressed such festivals' importance during his interaction with the students. He said, “Parul University is doing a great job with this Vadodara Startup Festival by creating wonderful opportunities for students and aspiring entrepreneurs.”

Many talented individuals and startup founders have shared their insights into the world of innovation and entrepreneurship during the 3-day festival. One of the keynote speakers at the festival was the co-founder of API Holdings, Mr. Harsh Parekh who runs India’s Largest Digital Healthcare Platform which is a parent company of several notable platforms in India such as Pharmeasy, Aknamed, Thyrocare, Retallio, and Docon. He shared his insights with the students about how he delved deeper into the challenges and opportunities that he encountered in the world of entrepreneurship. He also shared his journey of how he developed PharmEasy into what it is today. While talking to students, he emphasized how “Innovation need not always be expensive,” and further added to it by saying, “Innovation and accessibility go hand-in-hand. He further advised the students saying, “Don’t worry about bad days, marks or ups and downs, there are just small hurdles in your long journey.”

The event proved highly successful, with our incubated startup Dori Handcrafts securing an impressive cumulative Angel investor funding of 20 lacs valuing the company at 80 lacs. Additionally, a total of 14 teams received cumulative funding of 21 lacs for their idea-stage startups, highlighting the event's positive impact on the entrepreneurial ecosystem.
