On their recent overseas study tour, students from NMIMS's Pravin Dalal School of Entrepreneurship and Family Economic Management were exposed to the international business and technological landscape.

Mumbai, 14th December 2022: Students from the 23rd cohort of NMIMS' Pravin Dalal School of Entrepreneurship & Family Business Management (PDSE&FB) visited Belgium, Austria, Germany, and Switzerland. The School incorporates these excursions into its curriculum so that its pupils can have a feel for the world via direct experience. Students obtained cross-cultural understanding, knowledge of design and creativity, and exposure to international business opportunities through these excursions.

The students, led by the Pravin Dalal School of Entrepreneurship & Family Business Management's Director, had the opportunity to speak with and learn from the heads of numerous thriving businesses. Prof. Seema Mahajan stated, "The goal of this year's industrial visit was to provide exposure to students on global brand positioning, significant design, and innovation that is happening around the world, and to address the various challenges one faces while entering a foreign market, develop a modern perspective, and instil in them the notion of best global practises." The attitudes of those involved in family companies are changing for the better. A strong desire to leave an enduring mark is obvious. Exposure to other cultures teaches the next generation the technical know-how, business acumen, and ethics they'll need to run successful enterprises in the global marketplace. They gain from hearing about the diverse and interesting careers of the more than 6,000 graduates who have gone on to work in various fields.

To make the most of their time abroad, the cohort visited 14 different businesses in each of the four countries over the course of 12 days. IMEC, Riedel Glass, Schindler, BMW, Mercedes-Benz, and Erdinger were just a a few places the students could visit and learn from.

While at Leuven, Belgium, students gained insight into vital economic opportunities and the strengthening ties between India and Belgium. Whereas, Comet Group, had a firm grasp of prototyping best practices and market entry tactics. In addition, the cohorts were able to tour CommScope, a wireless automation company that holds 17965 patents and provided them with a look at the future of communication.

The student's education continued to BASF's German headquarters, where they witnessed firsthand how a company built a state-of-the-art chemical production facility and sustained its investment in cutting-edge technology for superabsorbent polymers. Students were able to gain experience operating a global supply chain at Erdinger, a private brewery in Erding, Germany.

Schindler, a Swiss multinational corporation best known for its elevators, escalators, and moving walkways, showcased how technology and innovation can shape cities of the future by looking into ways to improve access to public transportation and facilitate more equitable and environmentally friendly forms of urban transportation.

Prof. Seema Mahajan elaborated, saying, "It was not all work and no play for the students; they also had the opportunity to grasp culture and business etiquettes and gain essential practical lessons about growing and expanding firms across borders." Students gained valuable insight from their visits to each organisation and discussions with top strategy executives." She is certain that in the VUCA world, success is impossible without taking risks.
