The second edition of Narsee Monjee Marathon 2024 organised by SVKM’s NMIMS Chandigarh was concluded on March 10, 2024. This year’s theme was “Mental Well-Being” which sought to celebrate achievements and promote physical wellness, community building and team spirit. This marathon registered a pan-India presence with attendance from participants of all ages and fitness levels sharing the same degree of enthusiasm. Mr. Rajiv Tewari, Director of Public Relations, Chandigarh Administration was the Special Guest of Honour at this event while Dr. Vijay Namdeorao Zade, Finance Secretary, Chandigarh Administration and Mr. Amar Chauhan, an elite runner were the Chief Guests.

This two-day event was attended by several prominent people and organisations including Mr. Saurabh Duggal, President of the Press Club, and several elite runners from various cities such as Bangalore, Amritsar, Patiala, and running clubs including Tr-City Runners (CTR), Runners of Amritsar (ROAR), CDR, The Hell Race, The Run Club, IIT Mandi, to name a few.

The event had a racing competition open to men and women across ages and included categories like a 5 km run, a 10 km run and its flagship 21.5 km half-marathon. Participants at this event were given T-shirts, finisher medals and e-certificates, timing BiB, hydration, nutrition, and medical support making it safe and memorable for all.

Winners in each category, including both men and women, were Sahil and Bhagirathi (21 KM), Jagdev Singh and Anjali (10 KM), and Abuzar Khan and Khushi Sharma (5 KM). They were awarded medals as well as cash prizes up to 1 lac INR, gift hampers and trophies.

The Narsee Monjee Marathon 2024 held a successful Poster Launch Ceremony in the campus auditorium a few days prior to the event, it was a testament to the successful collaboration between the institution and leaders from industry and academia. As a display of this collaborative spirit, Jasminder Chahal, State Head Punjab ICICI Bank also graced this occasion with her presence along with other organisations in an effort to promote fitness, health, and community engagement.

Dr. Jaskiran Kaur, Director, NMIMS Chandigarh, took the opportunity presented by the press conference held prior to the event and acknowledged the support from Sponsors which includes names like CityWoofer, ICICI Bank, UJI Foods, Scott Edil, Suprasaad, Max Healthcare, Chandigarh Bytes, and Amputation Free India. She noted that the shared commitment of the sponsors and the institution towards promotion of mental well-being and holistic wellness has contributed greatly towards the success of this marathon.

While talking more about the success of this Marathon, Dr. Jaskiran Kaur said, "The Narsee Monjee Half Marathon 2024 was a testimony to the enthusiasm and spirit of community building among our participants. This year's event not only promoted physical fitness but also focused on promoting mental well-being and building a sense of togetherness. We are proud to have hosted an event that celebrates achievements, encourages teamwork, and promotes holistic wellness."

SVKM’s NMIMS Chandigarh hopes to carry out more such events in the future to foster its commitment towards health and fitness.
