Overall imphal college is a highly reputed college , one of the best in Manipur for general studies in both science and arts fields... The college campus is very beautiful and adequate infrastructure are there with ofcourse excellent ,well qualified teachers and A very friendly Support staff... The cutoff for appearing in the entrance test for our college is 60% for science students and 55% for arts students... There is an MCQ based entrance test for 100 marks ... And then there is document verification cum personal interview before the final admission into the college ... Anybody who had attended their higher secondary schools properly will be able to pass the entrance test easily ...
I personally choose botany since I was very much interested in the study of plants and their processes since a very young age and I got excellent marks both in HSLC and HSE examinations in science and biology subjects respectively... Most of the faculties in our department are PhD holders and all of them even non PhD holders have passed CSIR NET examinations with masters degree all of them are well experienced with the most experienced teacher had over 25 years of teaching experience.... Exams could not be timely conducted in our batch due to covid pandemic and the ongoing crisis in our state manipur.... But there is no compromise with the quality of the examinations even if we had just 2 months of classes to cover the syllabus designed to be covered in 6 months ... But the teachers are very dedicated and helpful and they still try to teach important topics for future exams and interviews even if not included in the syllabus while also trying to cover the syllabus....
There is no internship opportunities from the college itself but one can approch companies related to their field of study for internship privately ... Say a financial institution for an economics students , or a biotechnology or agriculture firm for a botany student.. other than these things institutions like IBSD,DBT organizes outreach programmes where we get to see and understand the uses of new machines and technologies in the field of biotechnology which has a bright future in India especially our state manipur as a lot of bioresources are available in our state which needs proper scientific research and extraction and marketing... Which will benifit b the state ,the nation, and all the people who are related to the study of biology and biotechnology....
The college have very few direct college placements, but companies like Mitsubishi and various airlines come with placement training and placement opportunities for the students .... Just about 5-6 people are selected in the placement with salary of upto ?7 lakhs annually.... Even so the students can easily find part time jobs during their studies and full time or part time jobs after graduation and the inclusion of practical skill based papers like nursery and gardening, biofertilizers and mushroom cultivation in the syllabus with the introduction of NEW EDUCATION POLICY,2020 has significantly improved our skills and made us more desirable to startups and companies around ... It has also enabled us to start a part time business or a full time affair promoting entrepreneurship and self employment...
As a science student our fees are slightly more than those of the arts students , we pay about ?4500 annual admission fees , and two exam form fill ups of around ?2600 each or ?5200 , external tours around ?250 , notebooks (?450 per year ) and practical notebooks around rs 250 per year ... Annual Fees of arts students are less since their exam fees are just ?1800-1900 as they dont have to pay for practical exams .... We also get both merit and mean scholarships thorough various government and private scholarship portals I personally get scholarship of around ?10300 annually .. so yeah , I can easily manage more than half of my own finances with the scholarship , and there is also a Earn while you learn programme in our college through which I get around ?2400 per month for 1 hour daily work....
The annual Imphal college week is held in the first week of November evey year there is music, dance ,drama ,debate , sports and all sorts of activities during the college week .. there is also an annual college sports meet and annual Manipur University inter college sports meet where different colleges affiliated to MANIPUR University compete in many different disciplines.... There is also annual freshers meet for the newly admitted students and also a farewell programme for the graduating students... The college has many different clubs with the main ones being the Eco club and Drama club ... The college also takes part in the annual cultural and literary competitions held in Manipur University campus .... Overall there is no lack of social , cultural and sport activities all year round......
Our college provide hostel facility for girl students only due to lack of space / area since our college is located in the Capital area of Manipur and the surrounding areas are densely populated... I don't know the exact hostel fees they pay ... But it's around ?1500-1700 per month with food .... Although the college doesn't provide hostel facility for the boys , there are lots of good affordable hostels as well as pgs nearby with good helpful people running it and around the areas ... Where we have to pay just about ?1300 for a sharing room without food...the landlords are very polite they agree with delaying the rent payments if the financial condition is not good .... And they even provide free electricity and water for all the tenants / students in that small monthly rent fee ..... Indeed very calm and a home like environment is maintained ..
There are companies like Tata Motors, Amazon, ICICI banking and other various companies are coming to our college for the in campus placement, currently the percentage of students placed is around 60%-80%
I opted for Masters in Botany as I wanted to study the biodiversity of plants in Manipur in areas where there are of little records. Additional advantage as Manipur University is in Manipur itself where i want to do my research on.
The placements are not so good but if you are skilled enough you will get up landing on a good job also many of the students prepare for some other exams like gate , cat etc and some of them try internships by their own
Eligibility criteria for placement is you have to be pass in all semester and all subjects. NSU has placement portal on their website and they have whatsapp groups in which they continue posting relevent new jobs accros globe. After my deggre i got job in Education department (Sports branch ) , govt of NcT Delhi as assistant coach.
Yes, DMU give so many Faculties like swimming pool, library, sport park, atm, fastfood, etc. And inside the college, you'll fell like staying with nature. I mean there are so many side garden. It make more peaceful for the aspirants students. And for my Course, there'll be two practical room with AC and many more facilities.
Talking about internships this year students has gone to IIT Madras, ISRO for internships and transfer or course exchange. Placement is fine for a establishing IIIT and considering the location, still Delloitte, Nvidia, etc companies come for interviews and median package is in between 15 to 20 lakhs.
For now, to get intership students have to pass there final year University exam . But for our batch NEXT exam will be there and we have to crack it for getting our internship. Percentage of internship is good .
We get placement in our own college. After completing internship we get junior residency in our college. It can be of 6 months or a year it depends on what you choose. After that you may give pg entrance and enter. After post graduation there is mandatory senior residency.
There is many placement provided by the university. In 2year we are eligible for placement. It is around 5lack per year. At the 85 percent we are getting placement. My plan after b. Tech is to work in bollywood.
I chose this course because i like to study science . There are so many students . Teaching method are very good to student. They have done online class also. There are 6 semesters. In 1 year , there are 2 semesters exam . It is not difficult to pass the exam if we study very hard.
