Remarks :

I had written and cleared my IELTS examination back when I was pursuing my 12th in U.A.E in order to pursue my higher studies in Canada, while my mom wanted me to continue studying in Dubai. Due to the immigration policy and high fees structure in Canada, we later decided to move to Chennai. I wanted to study in SRM or VIT, considering how liberal it is. Upon discussion with my parents on how cost efficient this college is, how strict and well-maintained it is, how good the food is and how good the placements are, I decided to move into this college. There are no written tests or interviews or group interview for this. All that's required is your 12th Boards mark. For NRI/Gulf students, they send a team to conduct an open house for enrolling students.

Course Curriculum Overview :

I had chosen this course upon my parent's recommendation, considering how good of a scope computer science has in terms of career opportunities. The minimum qualification of all the faculty is to have a PhD. Classes are taught with English as the medium, while at times staffs tend to teach in Tamil. The only problem is that you face difficulties in availing OD or getting any signature per se. Examinations are conducted as per the given schedule with an overall of 3 theory model exams, 1 practical model exam, and then theory and practical university examination. Preparation is pretty easy as the important questions are given before the exams, which makes it easy and convenient to study.

Internships Opportunities :

The college does not specifically offer any internship, but it tells to do internship mandatorily. As if now I've completed 2 internships, one as a content writer and creator for Terv Pro and the other one for cybersecurity in Rootecstack. Our college calls industrials and have a session with them to take well performing students as paid interns which at times is beneficial at the best for the students.

Placement Experience :

Placement is given well with almost 1500 students placed through campus placements. Companies like Infosys, Wipro, Zoho, Avasoft, etc. Are what come mostly, offering an average of 4-6 lakhs per annum. Most of the companies have a criteria that students should not have any standing arrears or history of arrears. Students with high CGPA get into the selection round for high package jobs. After my degree, I'm planning on having a startup which I'm working towards and side by side work for 2 years, after which I'd like to do masters on business and management integration with IT. Overall, on campus placements is a boon for students with atleast an average CGPA, no arrears and decent communication skills who are good to go with an average of 4-6 lakhs per annum

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

Since I've come under Gulf/ NRI Qouta, my fees structure is: Tution Fees: 2,00,000 (Changes for counselling and other qoutas) Hostel and Food(Breakfast, Lunch, Tea and Snacks, Dinner): 1,50,000 Day Scholars Transportation and Food(Breakfast and Lunch): 1,50,000 Along with this I had paid 4,00,000 for capitation/donation. My department is Computer Science which is why I pay this much. It varies for each department and I've heard that it has changed for the upcoming batch, as they've increased the fees with around 1-2 lakhs per year.

Campus Life :

This is a strict college, which seems to be like another extension of a school. Things happen in a strictly maintained system. At times, it puts pressure on students to be very orderly, although it maintains safety and discipline amongst then. There are no fests that takes place other than intra-college culturals, which takes place separately for different batches in the even sem via Febraury-April. Once a year, a national level inter-college symposium is conducted in the odd sem via August-September. Books and journals can be accessed from the library with the library pass card. Sports is a huge deal in my college as the teams are nationally recognised, winning several events in BasketBall, FootBall, Hockey, Kabbadi, etc. Every once a year, a sports day is conducted for the non-sports qouta students. Apart from that, hackathons are widely recognised as the main competitions to attend and win. Overall, if rules made a bit more flexible, a great campus life.

Hostel Facilities :

Yes I'm a hostel student. Hostel rooms do not have AC. They provide you with a room that has an attached toilet and bathroom of sufficient size. Each room consists of 4 students, 4 beds, 4 lockers, 2 fans, 1 plug point, 1 wash basin and mirror, a net window, a bucket and a laundry bucket. Students have to change room every once a year and can take roommates only from their department. The food is great here, with 6 days of non-veg food, 3 times chicken biriyani in a week, alternative days with ice-cream provided at lunch and a good variety that is tasty and healthy, especially for fitness. Only negative is the hostel rules that tells you to be in by 10, complete a process to take an out pass and leave, bring a guardian for the 1st year boys and 1st and 2nd year girls to go outside and not go out during college hours, although you may not have college. Overall, a great hostel experience with some strict rules that becomes better as you go to senior year.

Good college and value for money

Placement Experience :

Around 70% of the students from this course got placed, which is kinda decent I think. The highest package went up to 21 LPA and the lowest was around 5 LPA. Some of the main companies that came for recruitment were TCS, Zoho and Wipro. For internships also, students got chances in companies like Zoho, Amazon and Wipro. Most of the roles offered were related to HR, not much technical roles from what I heard.
