- The best part of chengalpattu medical college is it's hight patient load that gives a real time experience with patient and practical knowledge
- The second best thing is the staff are well qualified and experienced. And it's close to Chennai.
Dislikes
- The worst part of chengalpattu medical College is monkeys. Nothing is safe in ur room unless it's locked in your cupboard.
- The second worst part is, as the college was built way back in 1965 u can't expect new and appealing infrastructure. All the necessary facilities are adequate though.
Remarks :
This is a College under the Dr.MGR university of Tamilnadu. Here the admission of M.B.B.S happens through a counseling process where students are alloted college based on their rank scored through NEET exam. National eligibility cum entrance test (NEET) is conducted every year by the NTA. NEET is compulsory to get admission in this college. Rank list is published based on your score in NEET, and based on which u get colleges alloted in both all india quota and state quota. I passed NEET and scored 598 in 2021, and got admission in this college. The cut off mark for this college keeps varying (increasing) every year The best part of this college is it is very accessible from Chennai ( approx 1¼ hour journey) and u get every facility here. And the patient load is very high which increases the exposure to very vast variety of medical cases to learn from. The only bad aspect is it's a very old college(1965), so don't expect a Hi - Fi infrastructure, but it's good enough
Course Curriculum Overview :
MBBS is a professional course which requires lot of hardwork and discipline, but not as tough as it seems. The faculty here are very well versed in their field and are very professional, friendly and experienced. As the patient load is very high (3000 patient in OP per day) u can learn the subject practically and understand the concepts clearly. This course is yearly based one( not with a semester system) U have a university exam at the end of every year (total 4 exams) which includes both theory and practicals with a moderate difficulty level
Internships Opportunities :
Yes , as I mentioned above a year of internship is must after the 4 years of course where u will be paid ?30000 per month. U can earn additionally by joining any clinic in your locality with a part time job as house surgeon.
Placement Experience :
In medical field the placement purely depends upon ur choice of work( government setup , private setup , private clinic ) The average package after completing mbbs is nearly 6 to 8 LPA( u must pursue any P.G for good income) But after 4 years of study, a year of compulsory internship is offered where u are paid 30k per month.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
For 1st year it's ?13000 And for the 2nd it's ?6000 For the 3rd and 4th year it's around ?4000 If you are availing any reservation under any category there will be a reduction in the tuition fees. There are scholarship programs for reserved category students and first graduate students (scholarship may be based on your family annual income)
Campus Life :
The best part of this college is the cultural and sports events conducted by the students every year, called CHEMFEST and CHEMSPORTS respectively, which is a inter College level event which includes participation from a no. Of colleges around Chennai and other districts. So it becomes easy interacting to your fellow medicos from other colleges CHARM - Chengalpattu academic and research event, the biggest academic event of Tamilnadu is conducted every year which includes variety of academic competition including quizzes, debates, workshops and lot more interactive sessions which combines fun with academics. We have many instagram pages to record our unforgettable moments .
Hostel Facilities :
U can apply for hostel accomodation at the hostel office where u will be charged 30k deposit, out of which u will be refunded 20k at the end of course period. The food quality is good...like home food ...some time too much oil is used. The hostel rooms are pretty big enough, spacious to use. There are common toilets and bathrooms at each floor. We have 3 hostel building in total (each named as green emarald, red hostel, black pearl). Each month we have to pay nearly 4 to 5 k for mess food including electricity, water and maintenance cost. But to mention, as the hostel is beside a forest area, monkeys are present which may cause some trouble.

Placements are good like when you rech the 4th semester you will be told to register the Placement portal and you will be charged 5000 to register in that Placement portal after that people from good companies or professional Placement trainers will come and train you give you classes the classes will be there until 5th semester end. After that many Placement offers will come to you in your given emails and you will be able to apply in those companies if you are eligible they will contact you. Internship offers the staffs itself give all the active Internship details in the college whatsapp group it will be created once your classes begin.

The eligibilty varies it's better to no arrears during placements average package could 3.5LPA Around 60 percent is placed I got placed. IN our college there are various companies that come for placemrnt like Capegimini, hcl, wipro, airtel, Ericcson.
Good college and value for money
Placement Experience :
Around 70% of the students from this course got placed, which is kinda decent I think. The highest package went up to 21 LPA and the lowest was around 5 LPA. Some of the main companies that came for recruitment were TCS, Zoho and Wipro. For internships also, students got chances in companies like Zoho, Amazon and Wipro. Most of the roles offered were related to HR, not much technical roles from what I heard.

The fee structure in the college is high and for different course the fee is different for ELECTRONIC AND COMMUNICATION ENGINEERING I am paying ?90000 and for bus ? 16000 and someone in my class is paying ?125000 so not everyone is paying the same amount in the college
