Remarks :

I choose RPS College because it is near to my hometown and easy for travel. Also, my relatives told me college is good for B.Com. There was no group discussion, interview, or written exam for admission. Only documents were checked and form was filled offline after talking to principal and receptionist. No entrance exam or cut-off was needed. Admission was easy. The good thing about college is teachers are helpful, they explain topics with examples, and campus life is also active with trips and functions. The bad thing is fee is little high for some students. But if marks are good, college gives some fee concession. I not prepared for any exam or interview because college admission was direct and simple.

Course Curriculum Overview :

I choose B.Com course because I am from commerce stream and I want to study more in same field. The course is good and useful. It has many subjects like accounts, business, economics, etc. All teachers are qualified and teach well. Some teachers give real life examples, so it is easy to understand. They also help students when we not understand something. Exams happen two times in one year, semester wise. In first year, paper had 9 questions and one was compulsory. During COVID, college promoted us by internal marks in second semester. From third to sixth semester, exam was easy, we had to attempt any 4, 3 or 5 questions. So overall, the exam level was not very hard and course was easy to pass if study is done regular.

Internships Opportunities :

I did not do internship from college because college did not offer many internship opportunities for B.Com students. Some of my friends got internships in local companies like small shops and offices. They worked in accounts or marketing roles. Sometimes stipend was given but mostly no payment. Tasks were simple like helping with bills, maintaining records, and talking with customers. College did not arrange official internships or projects for us, so we had to find internships by ourselves. I plan to do internship in future to get experience.

Placement Experience :

In my college, there is no campus placement for B.Com students. So after completing course, I plan to do job by myself. Many students try to find jobs in banks, insurance companies, or business firms. To get good job, students need good marks and communication skills. Some students also do higher studies like MBA or CA after B.Com. I want to do job first and then think about higher studies. Because college does not give placement, students have to work hard to get job outside. Many students get job but no exact number is told by college. Highest salary depends on company and skills, average salary is low for freshers. After degree, I want to work in accounts or business field.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

I took admission in RPS College for B.Com. Total course fees is around rs 1,50,000 for 3 years. Every year I paid rs 37,500 as tuition fee and rs 9,900 for transport. Other charges like registration, admission, lab, development and caution fees are already included, so no extra money taken. I am in OBC category and bright student, so I paid get discount of rs. 8000 at the time of admission, but some SC/ST students in my batch paid less because they got scholarship or fee discount. I got rs 10,000 scholarship at the time of admission because I got 95% in 12th, and I also applied for PMS (Post Matric Scholarship) in first semester and received rs 10,000 in my bank account. Some of my friends also got same. College fees was same in all three years for my batch, but I heard new batch students paid little more, so maybe fees increasing now.

Campus Life :

Campus life in RPS College is good and enjoyable. Our commerce department arranged one trip to Manali during my batch. Many fests and events happen like Teachers' Day, youth festival, annual function, etc. These are mostly in September or October. There is a library in college with many books and journals, so we can study there also. Classrooms have fans, lights, benches and board, all basic things are there. Sports like cricket, football, kabaddi are also organised. Students can take part in games and other stage activities. During COVID time, college made WhatsApp groups for all departments so students and teachers can talk and share information. Some students joined NSS and did social work also. So overall, campus life is active and good for students.

Hostel Facilities :

I did not live in hostel because my home is near to college, so I travelled daily. But my friends stayed in hostel. They told me hostel is inside campus and rooms are okay with basic things like bed, fan, table and chair. Mess food is simple, like roti, sabzi, dal and rice. Sometimes food is good, sometimes not. For hostel, students have to fill a form at admission time and submit it to warden. Fees is not very high, but it depends on room type. Some students also live in PG or rent rooms near college in local area. Those PGs are in walking distance and food is also available there. Locality is safe and market is nearby for daily needs.

Placement Experience :

The Career Development Centre (CDC) plays an important role in preparing students for internships and future placements. The CDC conducts career guidance sessions, skill development workshops, resume-building activities, aptitude training, and interview preparation programs to improve students' employability. One initiative that I personally found beneficial was the Internship Fair organized by the university. It provided students with an opportunity to interact with different organizations and apply for summer internships, helping us gain practical industry exposure before entering the final placement season. Such initiatives allow students to build professional experience and develop workplace skills at an early stage.
