For students coming from the CENTAC(Centralized Admission Committee process-based on merit and marks from 12th standard), it solely depended on their 12th marks and for the students coming in through management quota they had to attend a group discussion and personal interview in order to qualify for the admission to the college, post successful completion of all rounds.
From my high school, I always was interested in the design of automobiles. This made me decide that I wanted to take up Mechanical engineering for my Bachelors. The faculty at the college were highly qualified with most of them being PHD holders in their respective streams. The teaching methodologies involved practical demonstrations, from various publications for references and thorough preparations from the professors. The term exams were conducted on a monthly basis and they helped us in evaluating on where we stood on understanding the basic concepts. There wasn't a hike in fees during our 4 year course and scholarships were provided to deserving candidates on yearly basis. The name of the scholarship provided was Perunthalaivar Kamarajar Scholarship from Pondicherry Government.
I attended internship outside college. The internship attended was at Neyveli Lignite College. Internship duration was for around 10 days. The activities included visiting mines and the furnaces on various sites. The internship provided an excellent opportunity for me to study about energy production for generation of electricity. There was report generation phase where I needed to prepare a report for submission to the office at NLC and at the college. This was a very good experience to practically observe the workings of a thermal power plant and understand the mechanics behind various equipment and processes in the workings of a thermal power plant.
The few companies which attended the placement drive were pharmaceuticals and sales companies, which weren't related to the field we pursued. Students attended the placement drive got placed and were able to bag below average packages. The percentage of students who got placed were around 40%. My plans were to go for higher studies. More emphasis could have been placed by the college on the placements and more opportunities could have been provided by the college for the students.
Life at the BCET was a holistic approach being an intricate mixture of both studies and active social life with various events being conducted on half yearly basis. College fest was conducted yearly with lots of competitions being held during the duration of the fest. Sports day was conducted with inter department competitions held in various sports and athletics. The library had a well curated collection of books and journals. Books were available for the students which can be borrowed using the library cards. Classrooms were equipped with projectors for presentations by both professors and students in various topics. There were various social clubs such as literary, science, math, arts and computer science clubs. All of these were run by the students. The hostel infrastructure was good with regular maintenance being done on a daily basis. The food menu was diverse with the food being average quality. Hostels were available for students who preferred staying at hostels.
There is no placement but lot of values are there for this certificate and theres so many job oppertunites are theres in the library field. Not many students aren’t took this course so we can simply get jobs
There have campus placement after completing our course if we are wiling to do so on the affiliated colleges or off campuses of the university. For women also there have colleges at local and national level. Students also prefer to proceed their studies at global level by entering into international universities and other programmes.
The college has its own placement cell .each year almost 400-500 students are getting placed.the well know recruiters are TCS , Accenture,Bounteous , Capgemini etc.the highest package of cur end year is 12LPA.
Placement opportunities are excellent in SMVEC which is an attractive factor to join this college. Internships need to join based on our own intrest. TCS ans CTS is an main recruiting organisations in this college.
Eligibility for sitting In placement is that we should not carry backlogs and we have to maintain a decent cg of 7+ some companies do allow even you have backlogs but mostly they don't . In eee we have a good scope of getting palced this time everyone who sat for placements was placed and the highest core package of 12lpa which is actually good. Average was around 7 lpa for core in eee . I'll probably choose upsc career so this placement thing is not my piece of cake . Still our college is good for eee core placements
Job placement is quite bad in our university if you think to get addmission here you will fight for job . You have to apply directly to the companies. Companies are coming here but they didn't provide placement more than 30% .
Most of the departments are providing placement for their students. In commerce and management departments Banks are the largest employers. For attending in the placement the concent from Head of department is needed
There are many vast companies coming for the Training and placement centre for placements. There are chances of good scholars to get placements in higher companies. There are job opportunities for the students
Every year students are placed in a week reputed companies like Amazon,Virtusa,TCS, Capgemini, Renault and so on. All the students having eligibility to attend the placements but some of the Top MNC expected 60% eligibility of throughout 10,12 and academic CGPA. So not eligible students also having more placements options to crack it.
