NIT Nagaland: an unexplored gem

- The college has a lovely environment, very calm and peaceful and the natural beauty around it is heart-warming. Also the weather is never very extreme which is a good thing.
- Lectures are all well-planned and laboratory is well-maintained. What is taught is taught properly, and the experiments are also very realistic and industrial.
Dislikes
- The staff and the local people are not very friendly and it is disturbing for outsiders. Some of the teachers have also been accused of partiality.
- The infrastructure is not fully developed, and construction everywhere is bit of a problem for residing there. Also basic necessities like electricity and water are also in shortage sometimes, which makes living conditions worse.
Remarks :
I got in through the CSAB counselling after JoSAA, conducted after JEE mains. No interviews but JEE itself is difficult as it is. The institute is prestigious due to the NIT tag and is one of the better ones among the newer NITs, available at my rank in JEE. The admission is not very complicated, it was allotted to me in the CSAB counselling and after that some document uploading and payment of first semester fees, which we had to physically verify upon arrival at the institute. Preparation for JEE took me two years 11th and 12th and another drop year after which I could get into this institute. Regular and constant practice is what I would suggest to future aspirants.
Course Curriculum Overview :
The course curriculum is very exhaustive. Combined subjects in the first year. Basics of Electronics and Digital principles in second year, and specialized E&C engineering from 3rd year onwards. The faculty who are professors are all well-read and knowledgeable but due to a shortage of staff, some Ph.D. scholars would take some of our subjects, who did not know very much. Passing the exams is not very difficult, basic understanding of the subject gets you through but getting distinction or better grades does require a lot of effort. I maintained a CGPA of 8.5 though it took me a lot of effort to not let it fall. It's a government institute so there is not much of a hike, but mess charges and accommodation fluctuate sometimes when new firms are allowed the mess tenders. Overall the institute is not very developed, but is developing at a steady rate in all areas, and I would say it's worth going into for a decent ECE degree with a government institute tag.
Internships Opportunities :
No, I did not take up any internship during my course duration. Several students from the institute got it and had been doing internships paid or unpaid but in the end, all of them would get experience, and that is what matters. They all got their internships through online websites or alumni contacts, and an average stipend of 15000 a month. Web development and AI training were the most prominent domains of the internship.
Placement Experience :
Placements are decent. Almost everyone gets placed here if you want a placement. Companies ranging from 3 lpa to 21-22 lpa come here every year. Some very large packages are also offered but nobody gets those. You can expect a decent 7-10 lpa package if you study properly for placements here. Deloitte, TCS, Infosys, Alstom, Cognizant are some regular recruiters in the institute.
Campus Life :
Campus Life is not very enjoyable, to be honest. The local people are very hostile towards outsiders. Although the environment is nice. We have an annual fest named Ekarikthin and several other events at regular intervals. Those are fun. Classrooms are not very advanced but proper. Labs and equipment are very modern though. The library has all the course material you will need. Sports and club activity is not very prominent but happens sometimes. Hostels are well maintained and regularly tidied. The mess food is not very good, as is the case with all mess. Getting good friends is a must to enjoy campus Life at NITN.

Placement Experience :
The eligibility criteria for placement is being the gold medalist of your department. There have been very few recruiters over the past few years and less in the coming years. There are mo packages information so far as it is strictly confidential. Campus placements are not offered. Employability plans are crucial for success and hence i have been making progress to search them continuously.

Here in this College placements and job opportunities are very less than compared to other NIT colleges nowadays placements are very scarcity what are the placements offered by the company they are taking the placement so it is not sufficient to us and at coming to my time the placements are where hard to get a placement in an big company so I am trying hard forgetting and placement or in case I didn't get any placement I will write gate examination and I will go to my mtech for resides for IIT colleges.

No college does not provide any intenship but the placements are decent maximum 80 to 90% of students get placed with minimum lpa of 7.5 lakhs to max of 25 lakhs. L&t ,vedanata,tcs, genpact, alstrom, nse and bse are our top recruiters
