Atal Bihari Vajpayee Medical University, Lucknow conducts counselling in three rounds for its own admission cycles and serves as the affiliating university for medical, dental, nursing, and allied healthcare colleges across Uttar Pradesh.

Nursing and allied healthcare candidates apply directly through ABVMU. MBBS, BDS, MD, MS, and MDS admission in ABVMU-affiliated colleges is based on NEET UG, NEET PG, or NEET MDS scores, followed by State counselling conducted by DGME, Uttar Pradesh.

Admission Update:
  • B.Sc Nursing, Post Basic B.Sc Nursing, and M.Sc Nursing/NPCC through CNET 2026: Registration closed on 20 May 2026. Admit cards were released, and the CNET 2026 entrance exam was scheduled for 06 June 2026. The result was expected in the second week of June 2026.
  • Allied Healthcare Bachelor courses through CAHET 2026: Online registration was open until 05 June 2026, 11:59 PM. Admission is based on Class 12 PCB merit and does not include an entrance test.
  • Allied Healthcare Master courses through CAHET 2026: Registration was open until 05 June 2026. The entrance examination was scheduled for 21 June 2026, and admit cards were to be available from 15 June 2026.
  • GNM through UPGET 2026: Registration was extended until 02 June 2026, midnight. The entrance exam was scheduled for 16 June 2026.
  • MBBS, BDS, MD, MS, and MDS in ABVMU-affiliated colleges: Admission is through NEET UG, NEET PG, or NEET MDS 2026 scores and UP State counselling conducted by DGME, Uttar Pradesh. The State authority releases counselling dates separately.
  • Domicile rule for Government seats: Candidates seeking admission to Government Nursing and Allied Healthcare colleges must either have a UP domicile certificate or must have passed both Class 10 and Class 12 from a board located in Uttar Pradesh.
  • Direct admission and management quota are not allowed: ABVMU does not permit direct admission in any affiliated CNET, CAHET, or UPGET programme. Seats are allotted only through entrance or merit rank and ABVMU centralised online counselling.
  • Reservation policy: Reservation is applied as per Uttar Pradesh State Government rules. EWS candidates are eligible for 10% reservation. PwD candidates with 40 to 50% loco-motor disability of the lower extremity receive 5% horizontal reservation.

ABVMU Admission Process and Counselling 2026

CNET, CAHET, and UPGET admissions are completed through ABVMU centralised online counselling. Colleges do not conduct separate counselling for these university admission cycles, and candidates report to the allotted institute only after the seat is confirmed through the portal.

Step-by-Step Admission Process

  • Step 1, Counselling registration: After the result is declared, qualified candidates register on the ABVMU counselling portal using the Registration ID created for the entrance exam or merit-based registration.
  • Step 2, Document upload and verification: Candidates upload mark sheets, domicile certificate for Government seats, category certificate, OBC/EWS certificate issued on or after 01 April 2026, GNM certificate for PBBSc, registration certificate for M.Sc Nursing/NPCC, internship completion certificate for M.PT/M.OT, and medical fitness certificate.
  • Step 3, Choice filling and locking: Candidates select colleges and specialisations in order of preference and lock the choices before the notified deadline.
  • Step 4, Seat allotment: ABVMU conducts multiple counselling rounds, generally Round 1, Round 2, and a Mop-up round. Allotment depends on entrance or merit rank, choices filled, category, and seat availability.

Important Rules at Counselling:

  • If the candidate does not deposit the prescribed fee on the date notified by ABVMU, the allotted seat is forfeited.
  • Admission through CNET and UPGET is subject to medical fitness certified by a Government Medical College Medical Board or District CMO.
  • PwD verification for CNET/UPGET requires assessment by a medical board constituted by a Government Medical College, including a Nursing Expert, to confirm 40 to 50% loco-motor disability of the lower limb.
  • Caste, EWS, ex-servicemen, NCC, Freedom Fighter dependent, and in-service ANM certificates must be issued by competent UP authorities and must be verifiable online. For NCC, only C certificate with grade B is accepted.

B.Sc Nursing is the largest direct-admission programme under ABVMU.
