Shia PG College is associated with the University of Lucknow and admits students to programmes such as BA and B.Com. through qualifying-examination merit. The application charge is INR 650 for its non-law UG programmes and all PG programmes, while LLB applicants pay INR 1,000.

For UG and PG courses other than the three-year LLB, selection depends on marks in the qualifying examination. The three-year LLB gives priority to CLAT 2026 scores, followed by the Lucknow University UGET for vacant seats. Admission to the five-year LLB depends on Class 12 merit.

Of the B.Com. intake, 700 seats belong to the Regular stream and 320 seats to Self-Finance. Under the National Education Policy, or NEP, seats are grouped into Major and Minor categories. Computer Science is a Self-Finance subject within the B.Sc. Maths group.

How UG merit and subject allocation work

The college ranks applicants by their aggregate 10+2 marks. Interviews, entrance examinations and extracurricular achievements do not contribute to UG selection.

  • The merit list places applicants in order of their Class 12 aggregate scores.
  • At counselling, students receive subjects according to merit rank. An allotted subject cannot be changed later.
  • Students who arrive late must select from the subjects that still have seats.

Sociology has 360 Major-category seats, the largest intake among the Arts subjects. Students seeking Sociology should attend the earliest counselling slot assigned to their merit band. Arriving later within that band leaves fewer subject options.
