Bangalore Institute of Legal Studies was established in 1993 by Shri. B.V.Acharya. The college is permanently affiliated with Karnataka State Law University (KSLU), Hubbali, which is the second-largest law university in Asia, affiliating more than 101 colleges throughout Karnataka. The college is also approved by the Bar Council of India.  

Bangalore Institute of Legal Studies offers a 5-year B.A. LL.B. degree program. Students who have secured 45% marks in the PUC or 10+2 examination are eligible for admission to the first semester of the BA LL.B. course. Admission to Bangalore Institute of Legal Studies is highly competitive. Each year, approximately 500 applicants come up for admission, with only 60 students being selected based purely on the merit of their II PUC marks. At the time of BLIS Bangalore admission, students must fill out the prescribed form and enclose Xerox copies of the 10+2 marks card, SSLC marks card, and caste certificate.
