B.M.S. College of Law was started by Sri. B.S. Narayan, during the academic year 1963-64, under the legacy of BMS Educational Trust. The college is affiliated with the Karnataka State Law University (KSLU) and is approved by the Bar Council of India, New Delhi. BMSCL Law ranking by IIRF is 17 out of 50 colleges in India in 2024. The college provides various facilities for students with a well-equipped moot courtroom, computer labs, a sports complex, and a well-stocked library with an assortment. The campus is located 2.2km away from the South End Circle metro station.

The college offers various 5-year integrated programs like BA LLB, BBA LLB, B.Com LLB, and a 3-year LLB Program. A candidate needs to score a minimum of 45% marks in the qualifying examination (General Merit) and a minimum of 40% marks in the SC & ST category. In addition to this, the applicants are required to go through the entrance test named BMSCLAT followed by a Personal Interview. Candidates can apply through online/offline mode once the notification is published on the website/notice board.

The Placement Committee at BMS College of Law works closely with a number of law firms, chambers, and corporate and government bodies to assist registered students in connecting with legal employers during the final year of studies. There are scholarships available for students at BMSCL. One of them is the B. S. Ragini Narayan Merit Scholarship provided to meritorious and economically weaker students. The scholarship amount provided under this will be INR 5000/- per person. The other is the merit scholarship awarded to students who secured above 90% marks in the qualifying examination. Under this, the student will get a scholarship amount of INR 10,000 per person.
