Business Analytics is the costliest UBS MBA specialisation at INR 4,60,500 because it follows a newer self-financing fee structure.
UBS Chandigarh Admission Process
CAT is compulsory for the regular MBA programmes at UBS Chandigarh, while MBA Executive applicants must take PU-CET PG. After entrance-exam shortlisting, applicants to both programmes participate in a Group Discussion and Personal Interview.
MBA Admission
MBA applicants need a bachelor's degree from a recognised university. The minimum required aggregate is 50% for the General Category and 45% for SC, ST, OBC and EWS candidates. Applicants must also have a valid CAT score. Students completing the final year of graduation can submit a provisional application.
- Step 1: Complete CAT registration in August and appear for the examination in November.
- Step 2: Once the CAT result is declared in December, use the CAT registration ID to submit the UBS application online.
- Step 3: UBS prepares the shortlist from CAT scores. The General Category overall cutoff is usually 85 percentile, along with the required sectional scores.
- Step 4: Attend the Group Discussion and Personal Interview at the UBS campus in April.
- Step 5: Check the final merit list in July. Final selection assigns 85% weightage to CAT, 7.5% to GD and 7.5% to PI.
Because CAT accounts for 85% of the final score, its weight in UBS selection is greater than at many government and private business schools. The combination of this selection method and the low course fee can suit applicants with high CAT scores who want to limit their education expenses.
MBA Executive Admission
To apply for MBA Executive, a student must have at least 50% in graduation and a minimum of two years of work experience. PU-CET PG, the entrance test organised by Panjab University, is usually conducted in May. Following the result, shortlisted candidates attend GD and PI rounds on campus. UBS offers this part-time or weekend-format management degree for working professionals.
M.Com Hons and PhD Admission
Panjab University rules allow M.Com Hons admission through PU-CET PG or B.Com merit. PhD admission is held twice a year. Applicants need a postgraduate degree with at least 55% aggregate and must have a UGC NET or CSIR NET score, or qualify through the Panjab University PhD Entrance Test. Panjab University publishes PhD admission notices on its official portal.

|---|---|---|
| Highest Package | INR 25.11 LPA | INR 24 LPA |

American Express, Ernst and Young, Cognizant, Grail Research, Futures First and IBM are among the leading UBS recruiters. A large portion of recruitment comes from finance and consulting. Students must also complete an eight-week summer internship after the first year. Companies in Chandigarh, Delhi-NCR and Mumbai provide these internships, which help build routes to pre-placement offers.
For the General MBA, the two-year government fee is INR 1,00,590, compared with the reported average salary of INR 12.95 LPA. This gives UBS one of the stronger placement-to-fee ratios among government business schools in North India.
UBS Chandigarh Rankings
UBS Panjab University is placed within India's top 40 management institutions by NIRF. Its continued presence in the Management category considers areas such as faculty quality, research work and placement results.
| Ranking Body | Category | 2024 Rank |
|---|---|---|
| NIRF | Management | 38 |
Panjab University is also listed among the top 30 central universities in the NIRF Overall rankings. Through its PhD programme and work under the UGC Special Assistance Programme, UBS adds to the university's management research output.
UBS Chandigarh Campus and Infrastructure
UBS Chandigarh has its own building within Panjab University's main campus in Sector 14, Chandigarh. The university campus covers more than 550 acres and ranks among India's largest. UBS students have access to shared facilities that include the central library, student activity areas, health centre and sports complex.
Inside the UBS building are seminar halls, faculty offices and a computer laboratory equipped with analytics software. Permanent and visiting faculty members use the offices located there. The school's placement cell also works from this building and manages summer internships as well as final recruitment drives. Chandigarh is connected to Delhi-NCR at a distance of 240 km, Amritsar at 220 km and Shimla at 90 km, making the campus accessible to students from Punjab and other parts of North India.
UBS Chandigarh vs FORE School of Management vs IMT Ghaziabad
UBS Chandigarh, FORE School of Management and IMT Ghaziabad receive applications from students in a similar CAT percentile band. Applicants who meet the UBS CAT cutoff commonly consider the other two institutes as well. The comparison covers location, institute type, rankings, cutoff, fees, placements and batch size.
| Parameter | UBS Chandigarh | FORE School of Management, Delhi | IMT Ghaziabad |
|---|---|---|---|
| Location | Chandigarh | New Delhi | Ghaziabad, UP |
| Type | Government (Central University) | Private | Private |
| NIRF Management 2024 | 38 | 40 | 42 |
| CAT Cutoff (General) | 85 percentile | 85 to 90 percentile | 85 to 90 percentile |
| MBA Total Fees | INR 1,00,590 (General MBA) | INR 18 to 19 Lakhs | INR 20 to 22 Lakhs |
| Average Package 2024-25 | INR 12.95 LPA | INR 13 to 14 LPA | INR 14 to 16 LPA |
| MBA Batch Size | 169 | 240 | 360 |
The main difference is cost. UBS charges INR 1,00,590 for its government-run General MBA based on CAT, a fee level not matched by the other institutes in the 85-percentile range. FORE School of Management and IMT Ghaziabad report somewhat higher average packages and have broader industry links in Delhi-NCR, but their two-year fees range from INR 18 to 22 Lakhs. In this comparison, UBS is the more economical option for students who place a high priority on return on investment and score above 85 percentile in CAT.
