GMC Bhopal Admission Dates 2026

MBBS applicants enter through NEET UG and the applicable All India or Madhya Pradesh counselling process. The ongoing and upcoming admission activities for the 2026-27 session are listed below.

Separate examinations and counselling authorities apply to undergraduate, postgraduate, super-specialty and nursing courses.

GMC Bhopal Courses and Fees

Students can study medical, nursing and paramedical courses from the undergraduate to super-specialty level at GMC Bhopal. MBBS is the main programme, with 250 seats and a Government Quota fee of INR 1.14 Lakhs for the full course. MPMSU and the Madhya Pradesh government determine the applicable fee structure.

The 16 MD specialities include pre-clinical subjects such as Anatomy, Biochemistry, Physiology and Pharmacology. Clinical choices include General Medicine, Radio Diagnosis, Emergency Medicine and Respiratory Medicine. M.Sc Nursing specialisations are Child Health Nursing, Community Health Nursing, Medical Surgical Nursing, Mental Health Nursing, and Obstetrics and Gynaecology Nursing. Boys' and girls' hostel charges are separate and range from INR 12,000 to INR 18,000 per year.

GMC Bhopal Admission Process

Entry to GMC Bhopal is based on merit in the entrance examination prescribed for each course. The government college has no management quota or NRI quota seats. NTA conducts NEET UG for MBBS admission, while postgraduate and super-specialty applicants follow their respective NEET and counselling routes.

MBBS Admission

The annual MBBS intake is 250 seats. MCC fills 37 seats through the All India Quota, and MP DME allocates the remaining 213 seats under the state quota.

• Eligibility: Applicants need 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry and Biology. The minimum aggregate is 50% for General category students and 40% for SC, ST and OBC students.
• Age: A student must be at least 17 years old by 31 December of the admission year. The stated upper limit for the General category is 25 years.
• Seat allocation: Admission uses the NEET UG merit rank, followed by MCC All India Quota counselling or MP DME state quota counselling.

3. Enter GMC Bhopal during online choice filling.
4. Accept the allotted seat if selected.

Madhya Pradesh reservation rules divide state quota seats among the General, OBC, SC and ST categories.

MD/MS Admission

Applicants for MD and MS must have an MBBS degree recognised by the NMC and complete a one-year rotating internship before joining. NEET PG determines merit. MCC conducts counselling for 50% of the seats under the All India Quota, while MP DME handles the other 50% through state counselling. PG Diploma applicants also use NEET PG, followed by the MP state quota process.

DM/M.Ch Admission

Admission to DM in Cardiology or Gastroenterology and M.Ch in Cardio-Vascular Thoracic Surgery, Paediatric Surgery, Plastic Surgery or Urology requires NEET SS. The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) conducts this examination. Applicants must hold the appropriate parent MD or MS qualification, and MCC manages super-specialty counselling at the national level.

Nursing and Paramedical Programmes

MP state-level entrance examinations are used for B.Sc Nursing, M.Sc Nursing, B.Sc Respiratory Therapy and allied health diploma admission. B.Sc Nursing applicants need 10+2 in Physics, Chemistry and Biology with at least 45% aggregate. A recognised B.Sc Nursing degree is necessary for M.Sc Nursing.

GMC Bhopal Placements and Career Outcomes

GMC Bhopal does not follow the usual campus placement model used by non-medical colleges. After MBBS, graduates commonly enter postgraduate medical education through NEET PG, join government service as Medical Officers, work in private hospitals or begin private practice.

Many graduates take NEET PG within one or two years after finishing the compulsory rotating internship. MD or MS admission at a government medical college is a frequent next step. GMC Bhopal Campus and Infrastructure

GMC Bhopal occupies a city-centre campus at Royal Market on Sultania Road, Bhopal. Its facilities include blocks for pre-clinical and clinical departments, anatomy and biochemistry laboratories, seminar rooms, lecture theatres and residential hostels for students and residents. The central library supports undergraduate and postgraduate study through medical and allied health textbooks, journals and digital resources.

Clinical education takes place mainly at the attached 1,800-bed Hamidia Hospital. Its departments include medicine, surgery, paediatrics, obstetrics, orthopaedics, neurology, cardiology and emergency medicine. Dedicated trauma, burn and intensive care units are also available. The hospital receives patients from Bhopal and other parts of Madhya Pradesh, giving MBBS and postgraduate students experience with varied clinical conditions and emergencies. GMC Bhopal and Hamidia Hospital treated thousands of people affected by the 1984 Bhopal gas tragedy, which contributed to the institution's emergency response experience.

Separate on-campus accommodation is provided for male and female students, with annual hostel fees of INR 12,000 to INR 18,000. The college's location near important state government health offices can also help graduates connect with government posting opportunities.

GMC Bhopal vs MGMMC Indore vs NSCB Medical College Jabalpur

Students applying through the Madhya Pradesh state quota often compare GMC Bhopal with Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Medical College (MGMMC), Indore, and Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Medical College (NSCB), Jabalpur. All three are major state government medical colleges.

With 250 MBBS seats, GMC Bhopal has the largest intake among the three and places students in the state capital near government health departments and possible postings. MGMMC appeals to applicants who prefer Indore, Madhya Pradesh's largest city, but its smaller seat matrix contributes to a tighter All India Quota cutoff. NSCB Medical College combines a central location with a comparatively more accessible cutoff profile and an intake of 100 seats. Each college is recognised by the NMC, affiliated with MPMSU and governed by the same state fee framework.
