SINP Kolkata offers admission to Ph.D. program or Post M.Sc in two specializations i.e. Physics and Biophysical Sciences and undergraduate Associateship in Physics and Biophysical Sciences. SINP Kolkata admissions will be done based on scores secured in entrance exams. To be eligible for admission, candidates must have qualified for GATE/UGC-NET/JEST entrance exam. Candidates can apply online on the official website @saha.ac.in.

  • For admission to post M.Sc in Physics and Biophysical Sciences, the minimum eligibility criteria is candidates must hold an M.Sc degree in Physics or Chemistry.
  • For admission to JRF in Physics and Post M.Sc in Physics, admission is granted on the basis of the candidate’s performance in JEST/ GATE in Physics/ CSIR or UGC NET.
  • Admission to Post M.Sc in Biophysical Sciences is granted on the scores secured in JGEEBILS/ CSIR/UGC/DBT or ICMR NET.
  • The final selection of candidates is done on the basis of merit in the graduation examination and rank scored in the entrance examination followed by an interview.
  • For admission to undergraduate associateship, The minimum eligibility is candidates must pass 10+2 with at least 80% aggregate marks in the Science stream and the students must be a first-year undergraduate student in a 3-year B.Sc program in Physics/Chemistry or Biological Sciences. The selection of the candidates will be based on the fulfillment of minimum eligibility criteria followed by an interview conducted by SNPI Kolkata.

  • Saha Institute of Nuclear Physics Fellowships: 20 Fellowships
  • Extramural Fellowships: 20 Fellowships

Ques. Is there any stipend for fellow students in SINP Kolkata?

Ans. Yes, stipend is provided for the first two years. Candidates get INR 31000 per month, and for subsequent years, a sum of INR 35000 is provided. The fellowships are awarded for a maximum of 5 years. They are renewed yearly, subject to satisfactory performance of the candidates.

Ques: Are Indian nationals studying outside India eligible to apply?
