Mumbai, August 2023 - For all B.Tech. students at SVKM's NMIMS Indore - School of Technology Management & Engineering (STME), a new non-credit course entitled "Community Services" is being offered. / MBA Tech. STME welcomes all new students from the academic year 2021-22 onwards, and all lateral entry (Diploma to Degree and similar) students from the academic year 2022-23 onwards. Through this course, students will have the opportunity to take non-credit courses that benefit the community. Through the program, students will be able to volunteer at various government and non-government agencies, hospitals, schools, and community organizations.

For first-year students, the "Community Services" course takes place over three consecutive weeks during the summer vacation between Semester II and Semester III, and for lateral entry students, during the summer vacation between Semester IV and Semester V. Service-learning is at the heart of this course, which integrates academic work with service activities effectively. As a result of this approach, students will not only gain practical experience, but they will also enhance their organizational, leadership, and character skills. It will also introduce students to critical issues facing society and encourage them to explore all aspects of giving back to the community.

Dr. Aquil Bunglowala, Associate Dean of STME, Indore, remarked, "We firmly hold the view that education transcends conventional textbooks and classrooms. Upon the successful culmination of this course, students will attain a range of accomplishments. These encompass heightened self-awareness, enhanced prowess in interpersonal communication, leadership acumen, and organizational aptitude. The students will cultivate attributes of empathy, compassion, and collaborative proficiency, concurrently refining their capacities for critical thinking and effective communication. This course seamlessly aligns with the overarching vision and mission of STME, with the ultimate goal of nurturing socially conscious individuals who excel proficiently in the realms of engineering and management.

The initiative will be implemented across all campuses of STME, reaffirming the institution's commitment to producing well-rounded and socially conscious graduates.
