In a crucial addition to the NMIMS Hyderabad’s infrastructural and legal background, a Moot Court Hall’s inauguration took place at SVKM’s NMIMS Hyderabad School of Law (SOL). The Hall will serve the purpose of sharpening the legal acumen of students and enriching their legal studies with a realistic courtroom experience.

The inauguration ceremony was a grand affair graced with the presence of notable personalities like Justice B. Vijaysen Reddy, Judge at Telangana High Court and Justice B. Papireddy, Principal District and Sessions Judge at Mahbubnagar and the Mahbubnagar Police Department. The event also saw attendance from other dignitaries active in the legal fraternity while the leadership at NMIMS was represented by Dr. Siddharth Ghosh, Director, NMIMS, Hyderabad and Dr. Mohammad Samiullah Arab, Dean Associate, NMIMS School of Law. The legal student body of NMIMS School of Law also attended this inauguration with much enthusiasm.

Justice B. Vijaysen Reddy addressed the student body of SOL on this occasion and shared wonderful insights from his illustrious legal career. In his address to those who attended the event, he shared several anecdotes about his humble beginnings in the legal field and other noteworthy life experiences. His address put emphasis on the importance of legal professionals dedicating themselves to serving the nation by serving its people and how lower courts play a vital part in the Justice system.

Moot Courts serve as a valuable medium for law students to experience courtroom challenges and polish their advocacy skills along with developing a deeper understanding of legalese and associated principles. It is a simulation of a courtroom where students take sides in a fictitious legal problem and they are expected to defend their side in front of a panel of Judges, usually comprised of veteran Attorneys or Judges.

Moot Courts are utilised by Law Schools, legal competitions, and some advanced undergraduate programs across the globe to replicate the courtrooms so that they can develop skills relevant for litigation. Moot Courts are critical to fostering and imbibing confidence, legal expertise, critical thinking skills and persuasive argumentation.

While expressing his gratefulness, Dr Mohammad Saimulla Arab, Associate Dean, School of Law, Hyderabad NMIMS said, “The newly established Moot Court Hall at NMIMS School of Law Hyderabad is a state-of-the-art infrastructure that provides students with a realistic courtroom experience, including modern technology, professional resources, and expert guidance. It is focused on imparting invaluable skills to the students, preparing them for a successful legal career.”
