Founded in 1969, the University of Jammu and Kashmir was divided into the University of Jammu at Jammu and the University of Kashmir at Srinagar. Over the years, the University of Kashmir, which is located in Hazratbal, Srinagar, has grown, acquiring land close to its main campus for future expansion. With the goal of facilitating access to higher education, it maintains satellite campuses in Anantnag, Baramulla, and Kupwara in addition to a sub-office in Jammu. The university prioritises a dynamic intellectual environment and provides a wide range of programmes from several faculties. The NAAC awarded it a Grade-A+ accreditation in honour of its outstanding performance.
