As the college is located near to both private and KSRTC bus transport station which has buses arriving from almost all districts in Kerala it is convenient to reach the college. The itself has a college bus too. Plenty of hostels are also available near to the college. ATM of almost all banks are located within 1 km of the college. During summer the college faces water shortage, so the tap water gets muddy water which isn't fit for use. Students are allotted to colleges by the University through a single window system known as the Central allotment Process(CAP) based on merit marks of the candidate at the qualifying exam, choice of the candidate and the norms of reservation. Usually only the students with an average of 80% marks would be able to get a seat through the merit means. 50% of seats are filled on the basis of merit and 20% for SC/ST students, 20% filled by management and 10% reserved for Catholic students on the basis of merit.
I tool M.Sc. Zoology as I loved the subject. The syllabus is an extensive one that covers all the topics for CSIR JRF exam. There are 7 faculties at the department out of which 5 of them hold doctoral degree and the other two teachers are CSIR NET qualified and they are currently pursing PhD. Each and every one of them have an in-depth knowledge in their field. They make sure that the students are understanding the basics while teaching a topic. Instead of a spoon feeding method students are assigned small topics as seminar to make themselves research more on the topic and collect study materials by themselves. The exams usually occur according to the M.G University exam calender. The university semester exams occur at an interval of 5 months and time tables are published 14 days before exams. The questions are usually a moderate tough level ones usually direct questions from the syllabus. Still some indirect application level questions are also expected.
The college offers many certificate and diploma courses and I was a part of the 1 year diploma course in Women Entrepreneurship. It was mandatory to do an internship and we all were affiliate marketing interns at Pracol.com an E-commerce platform.(We are free to choose any companies for internship). The duration of the internship was 1 month and it was without any stipend. We did this internship through online mode as it was the time of Covid-19 lockdown. The main task assigned was to add 10 new members to the platform and make them buy products.
The college offer campus placements for self-financing courses such as B.Voc Fashion Technology and BSc/MSc Clinical Nutrition and dietetics course. The rest of the students have to find jobs by themselves. Most of the students choose this college to make it easier to study at the Civil Service Institute near the college. So they get into intense coaching for the civil services exam once they finish their studies. B.Sandhya IPS ,who retired as a DGP is an alumnae of this college. The another major group go for B.Ed or qualify NET exams and pursue a teaching profession. Mostly the sports students are employed after their studies in the Indian Railways. Overall the placement cell and the percentage of placements in the college is average. I am pursuing a job oriented course to make myself more professionally employable.

For Post graduate students in Science there won't be much time to experience campus life. Doing a PG demands some sacrifice. Still at times you would be able to participate in events. Alphonsa College greatly promote participation in intercollegiate fest. So it would be both fun and educating at the same time. I was able to travel to other colleges and places by this opportunity. The college conduct departmental competitions, exhibitions and food fests which are open to all the students. Almost all the months of a year have some events. Library is my favorite place in the college. Whether it be a subject oriented books, stories, magazines, articles, newspaper or e-books all category of books are available. The library is a calm and peaceful place to be. The college has dance club, music club, quiz club and many other. NCC,NSS unit are very active. The college is well known for its contribution to sports. Many sports persons like Preeja Sreedharan, Shiny Wilson are some notable alumnae.
I was a day scholar, but had friends who stayed in college hostels and PG's. The college hostels are run by sisters congregation. So they will keep you safe as there are strict instructions on leaving and entering into the hostel. The accommodation facilities are good. One room would have 3 people. The hostel food have a special menu for sports-students. Rest of the students are provided with both veg and non-veg food but most of the students doesn't like the hostel food at all. My friends usually have their food from the college canteen and occasionally from the nearby hotels. Many private hostels are also available near to the college. The rate of PG's are comparatively higher than college hostels but the food quality is much better. There is less restrictions compared to the college hostels and you would be living with students of other colleges, coaching institutes and people who are working in the nearby areas. Water shortage during summer is a main problem of the hostel.
The eligibility according to our teachers is that we have to get the 7.5 above CGPA and the number of companies that have visited and recruited are TCS Wipro et cetera and the highest package will be to 7 and lowest will be 2 lakh my plan after the degrees that I will opt for higher studies and specialised in some specific course like Java and will look for the companies like that
college provide best on their placements , as a part of making college to be best at the era . principal told to our batch that they will provide 50% of placements , i am glad to be in this batch because sometimes i may get a college placement to make an expirence for the future jobs
I chose Computer Science and Engineering (AI & ML) because of my interest in technology, programming, artificial intelligence, and machine learning. The curriculum follows KTU regulations and covers both theory and practical subjects. Most faculty members are qualified . Internal exams and semester exams are conducted on time. The difficulty level is moderate to a lil bit high and students who attend classes regularly can perform well.
I choose this course because i have a strong interest in history and understanding past events, and culture and their impact on the present.the course curriculam is well structured and covers both core elective subjects, giving a balanced understanding of historical concepts.
There are few placement opportunities like infosys but we can't opt for high salary paying jobs.I am planning to complete mtech after graduating btech. There are many students with jobs from college selection but I don't like many jobs from college as per their salary
The faculity is generally experienced and supportive most students are satisfied. With the teaching clinical exposure. Facilities are friendly with the students. Regularly conducts class test and model exam to help students prepare for their studies and university examination. Faculties are high qualified and experienced
Most of the faculties are bds or mds graduated and well knowledged. Classes are mainly powerpoint presentation based and seminars. There are 2 internals and one model examination based on which qualification for university exam is determined.
I love zoology.. I want to build my career on this subject. My faculty has phd.. She teaches well.. I could understand all concepts very easily. There are internal exams. I am studying four year fyugp course. So there is only one internal. And then there is sem exms at last. If u study well u could score good marks. Little difficulty
As I'm a first year student I've not got information about the placement but there are so many placement options from South Indian Bank, icici bank and also from companies like deliotte etc The college has connection with many international companies too.
Minimum criteria for placement is for a student with minimum arrears.Even though supply there if you have skill then you will be placed .Amal Jyothi has a better placement compared to other college and is very good
