Dislikes
- We follow a strict no phone policy, not allowed in the campus during the class time. We are supposed to keep our phones in the faculty room till the end of the class hours. If not are required to carry the slip provided for phone use during the time period.
- Follows a Dress code for freshers, even though not written down anywhere , till the uniforms are provided.
Remarks :
Best among the private colleges and universities for masters in journalism and mass communication course in Ernakulam district, considering the course structure, and fees for the course. We have limited options to pursue a post graduation in journalism in Ernakulam district, Kerala. Only 3 colleges provides this masters course and only Dist have the facilities for practical knowledge of the field. The fees structure here is the most affordable among the three and we have all the amenities required for a media student. We do have a cordial relationship with Goodness channel who takes interest in conducting workshop and internships for our students as well as part time jobs along with the course. Admissions are based on interview and marks percentage of UG degree for management and allotment students. That is students can directly apply on the college website or apply through MG University CAP portal, since the college is still under the university.
Course Curriculum Overview :
I choose it because I love journalism , even though being open to the career prospects of mass communication. We do have experienced professionals of each field as faculties for the particular subjects, with years of experience in the field. They make you career oriented in your field of choice. We follow the course structure laid out by Mahatma Gandhi University along with add-on subjects as required by the course, students and current media organisations. Examination are also conducted as prescribed by MG University. Our college do fill the gap between theoretical knowledge needed and the practical experience required by the industry, making you industry ready.
Internships Opportunities :
I personally have not opted for an internship as of now. Media students are supposed to do internship as part of our curriculum and we are free to choose any company of our choice. It is mandatory to do atleast one internship by the end of final semester. We do get recommendations from our faculties and other assistance as well as contacts of our alumnae for opportunities in their companies. We can do as many as internships as possible without compensating on our 75% attendance, and is encouraged to do so.
Placement Experience :
We have an active placement cell and a rich alumnae in various fields of media organisations as well as freelancers who have made a mark in their world. So we do get the benefits of networks and shout-out by them, very much required for a fresher in the industry. Students can apply for internships as part of the course structure and placements start by the mid of final semester. As we have mass communication along with journalism in our course we do have career options in all fields of mass media, audio and visual like radio, TV, print and broadcast media along with advertisement, Public relations. We also have job fair Udyog, at our campus every year with participation of more than 90 companies and numerous job aspirants,both freshers and experienced alike.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
We have the entire course fees to be 120000, supposed to be paid semester wise. With an addition of examination fees prescribed by MG University there are no additional fees charged from the students. Registation fees include 15000 and scholarships being provided to excellent students. Staff do help in availing student loans for the needed too.
Campus Life :
We do have many major and minor fest at our college - major being Diginto, Denovo and Daksh. They are usually conducted in the months of November, December. We do have a great library with more academic books than fictional works. Books for competitive examinations can also be used from the library. We have around 14 active clubs and they undertake atleast two activities every semester. Sports are also encouraged with an active basketball, badminton and volleyball team. We also have independent Instagram pages by our students showcasing our life at Dist. Unfortunately, as common among almost all the colleges in Kerala, we do not have a nightlife in the campus, let alone vibrant. Students can opt for private accommodation facility. The famous night hangout place would be the airport premises with good food and view of flights take off and landing. Kochi being a vibrant and diverse city do provide many options for spending time and hanging out.

Course Curriculum Overview :
I chose Computer Science and Engineering (AI & ML) because of my interest in technology, programming, artificial intelligence, and machine learning. The curriculum follows KTU regulations and covers both theory and practical subjects. Most faculty members are qualified . Internal exams and semester exams are conducted on time. The difficulty level is moderate to a lil bit high and students who attend classes regularly can perform well.
