The campus is amazing with very good infrastructure and a huge hospital with 415 beds . Faculty is super experienced who are passionate about teaching and mentoring.IGMC is recognized by NMC.( national medical council) and affiliated with Pondicherry university so you can trust that you are getting good quality education. Bad aspects or not so good aspects are : Rural bond is must without which ?1 crore penalty will be charged . Limited number of post graduate seats . It has its own pros and cons but it is still a good govt college comparatively.
The reason I chose this course is because it was always my dream to become a doctor and treat patients not just for money but to increase their life span by a good margin if not atleast a few extra years . It is a dream for many in India about 25 lakh students aspiring to be a doctor. It is a respected field that also pays well if a person plans on going abroad for higher studies . Faculty in IGMCRI are well experienced professionals working in the teaching field for about 8-10 years . Teaching is decent and depends upon one teacher to the other . Exams were held once in a week or two and the difficulty was set high to improve students knowledge and provide them with an idea on how to approach questions for final exams .
No no no didn’t apply for any internship program as I am still a first year mbbs students so once I do internship and do a lot of research and take part in a lot of events for enhancing my CV even more.
Internship is done after 4.5 years of mbbs course Internship is must for all the mbbs students which if not done can cost a penalty of ?1 crore . About 130 students get into internship every year . It is done for a year after which students give their pg exam and choose a different college for further specialisation
Yearly course fee payment - 70,000 Mess fees ( for hostellites ) - 10,400 for 3 months Yearly mess fees - 41,600 Hostel fees - 35,000 yearly Admission fees - 2000/- Scholarship will be given to students of SC/ST category after completion of course . The hostel security deposit will be given back if the person decides to leave the hostel before the completion of course.
Life at campus is pretty boring if you are an extrovert . Not everyone is like you . Fests are held every 6 months since it is a professional field . We have a library with a seating capacity for about 150-180 students with all sorts of international author books and bones required to study osteology. Classrooms are not so congested and provides seating capacity for 180 students with cctv cameras and centralised A/C that is sometimes on or off depending on the temperature outside. Sports and extracurricular activities are not taken lightly and have huge involvement on campus .
Hostel is dull and no provisions. Water facility is also not there . No A/C for nri rooms and the water tastes so bad . No improvements all these years except repaint of walls . Food quality is below average for the fees paid every year .
There is no placement but lot of values are there for this certificate and theres so many job oppertunites are theres in the library field. Not many students aren’t took this course so we can simply get jobs
There have campus placement after completing our course if we are wiling to do so on the affiliated colleges or off campuses of the university. For women also there have colleges at local and national level. Students also prefer to proceed their studies at global level by entering into international universities and other programmes.
The college has its own placement cell .each year almost 400-500 students are getting placed.the well know recruiters are TCS , Accenture,Bounteous , Capgemini etc.the highest package of cur end year is 12LPA.
Placement opportunities are excellent in SMVEC which is an attractive factor to join this college. Internships need to join based on our own intrest. TCS ans CTS is an main recruiting organisations in this college.
Eligibility for sitting In placement is that we should not carry backlogs and we have to maintain a decent cg of 7+ some companies do allow even you have backlogs but mostly they don't . In eee we have a good scope of getting palced this time everyone who sat for placements was placed and the highest core package of 12lpa which is actually good. Average was around 7 lpa for core in eee . I'll probably choose upsc career so this placement thing is not my piece of cake . Still our college is good for eee core placements
Job placement is quite bad in our university if you think to get addmission here you will fight for job . You have to apply directly to the companies. Companies are coming here but they didn't provide placement more than 30% .
The few companies which attended the placement drive were pharmaceuticals and sales companies, which weren't related to the field we pursued. Students attended the placement drive got placed and were able to bag below average packages. The percentage of students who got placed were around 40%. My plans were to go for higher studies. More emphasis could have been placed by the college on the placements and more opportunities could have been provided by the college for the students.
Most of the departments are providing placement for their students. In commerce and management departments Banks are the largest employers. For attending in the placement the concent from Head of department is needed
There are many vast companies coming for the Training and placement centre for placements. There are chances of good scholars to get placements in higher companies. There are job opportunities for the students
Every year students are placed in a week reputed companies like Amazon,Virtusa,TCS, Capgemini, Renault and so on. All the students having eligibility to attend the placements but some of the Top MNC expected 60% eligibility of throughout 10,12 and academic CGPA. So not eligible students also having more placements options to crack it.
