No group discussions, No interviews, or any written test. Got in through JEE marks. Chose this since it was the only government college I could get with CSE Course at my ranking. My JEE Ranking was near 64k. Since this is government funded institution and not fully supported by the government like NITS and IITS, there's room for people like me with 93-96% percentile students (GEN category).
Lots of free time. You have maximum independence. Could be a poison if you're not careful with your time, but freedom provides you with high potential as well. Faculties are all PhD holders is a neat way to brand your college to the public, but just like any other college, a PhD holder doesn't make a good teacher. Would recommend relying on yourself.
I haven't done any internships as of now given I'm still a second year student. However this college provides a lot of opportunities for such matters. Once in a while, students are invited to workshops that train you for internships. If you perform well, there are high chances for you to get internships opportunities and all that jazz. From the very beginning I have been focused on higher studies so my perspective would be slightly biased, but overall internships over here are average at best.
Placements are average to say the least. If you're academically above 9 GPA in this college, the bottle neck for your placements would be the college. Anything below that, you would get what you deserve, but nothing more as well. I've been maintaining
Don't know about scholarship but it's 150000 for tuition and an additional 60000 (first year it's 75000 since 15000 caution money) for hostels yearly. I'm pretty sure the fees won't be increasing anytime soon, however be prepared to see changes of not more than 10000 in probably 5 years.
There's good social life over here. If you want to roam around the city and explore Puducherry, you totally can do so. Clubs are there but it's really more towards technical stuff. Given how much freedom students in PTU/PEC get, sky's the limits. While clubs aren't the strong point of this college, it provides departmental matches and lot of events takes place, all hosted by various departments throughout the year. All of them are small sized, but they are all well thought out!
Food's great. However if you're from north, brace yourselves! They make the most shittest chapatis out here. While everyone from this college have some or the other thing to complain about the food, we all can agree that for 60000, we get really good food throughout the year. From time to time we even haves these candlelight parties hosted where we get to have amazing food during the night. First years when it comes to boys can live in two hostels: The PG Hostel, Hostel A/B ground floor Hostel A/B = 4 people in a room PG Hostel = 2 people in a room 2nd year onward, anyone from PG Hostel must go to either Hostel A or Hostel B You can live either ground floor with 4 people (in total) or upper floors 2 people in a room. All I know about the girl's hostel is that it's super secure and there's only one block for them due to low population.
There is no placement but lot of values are there for this certificate and theres so many job oppertunites are theres in the library field. Not many students aren’t took this course so we can simply get jobs
There have campus placement after completing our course if we are wiling to do so on the affiliated colleges or off campuses of the university. For women also there have colleges at local and national level. Students also prefer to proceed their studies at global level by entering into international universities and other programmes.
The college has its own placement cell .each year almost 400-500 students are getting placed.the well know recruiters are TCS , Accenture,Bounteous , Capgemini etc.the highest package of cur end year is 12LPA.
Placement opportunities are excellent in SMVEC which is an attractive factor to join this college. Internships need to join based on our own intrest. TCS ans CTS is an main recruiting organisations in this college.
Eligibility for sitting In placement is that we should not carry backlogs and we have to maintain a decent cg of 7+ some companies do allow even you have backlogs but mostly they don't . In eee we have a good scope of getting palced this time everyone who sat for placements was placed and the highest core package of 12lpa which is actually good. Average was around 7 lpa for core in eee . I'll probably choose upsc career so this placement thing is not my piece of cake . Still our college is good for eee core placements
Job placement is quite bad in our university if you think to get addmission here you will fight for job . You have to apply directly to the companies. Companies are coming here but they didn't provide placement more than 30% .
The few companies which attended the placement drive were pharmaceuticals and sales companies, which weren't related to the field we pursued. Students attended the placement drive got placed and were able to bag below average packages. The percentage of students who got placed were around 40%. My plans were to go for higher studies. More emphasis could have been placed by the college on the placements and more opportunities could have been provided by the college for the students.
Most of the departments are providing placement for their students. In commerce and management departments Banks are the largest employers. For attending in the placement the concent from Head of department is needed
There are many vast companies coming for the Training and placement centre for placements. There are chances of good scholars to get placements in higher companies. There are job opportunities for the students
Every year students are placed in a week reputed companies like Amazon,Virtusa,TCS, Capgemini, Renault and so on. All the students having eligibility to attend the placements but some of the Top MNC expected 60% eligibility of throughout 10,12 and academic CGPA. So not eligible students also having more placements options to crack it.
