This college has a lower cutoff compared to other colleges for josaa admission process. The college does not have any external exams for entry. The campus size of the college is very big(185.8 acres) however most of the campus is under utilised. The infrastructure is old but currently under renovation. However the campus roads are in very poor condition. The campus includes a library with over 56 thousand books along with case studies and thesis records. It also includes an auditorium and open air theatre. The main advantage of this college would be the amount of self time the students get, since there are a low number of assignments.
The faculties of this college number more than 300 including support staff. The courses follow this pattern: All subjects have 40 marks internals and 60 marks externals Theory subjects have 3 CAT exams(continuous assessment tests) per semester(depending on the professor, it can be more than 5 for improvement of score) for 25 marks out 40. 10 marks out of 40 are for assignments(generally 2 per subject) and the rest 5 marks are for attendance with a minimum criteria of 75% with 100% giving 5 marks, reducing 1 mark for every decrement of 5% in attendance. For practical subjects, 25 marks are for the record and observation note, 10 marks for mid semester exam(practical) and 5 marks for attendance (same pattern as theory subjects) Each theory subject has a total of 5 units for the semester. The professors are generally good, but sometimes use heavy accents. Professors of ece department are especially strict.
6 weeks of Internships are compulsory for every student. The students are generally encouraged to do their internships during the second year and third year summer vacations. Depending on the branch, the number of internships may vary.
Placement rates have been low, but may be on the rise during the next few years. The campus includes a training and placement centre that helps the students to prepare for the placements. The branches with highest package placements are computer science and engineering, electronics and communication engineering, and mechatronics engineering.
The college accepts addmission through josaa, csab and centac. The yearly tution fees for josaa and csab(no reservation) is 1,50,051 rupees(75,051 rupees for SC/ST). For centac the tution fees is about 13,000 rupees per year.
The campus has a very big sports ground (good for cricket as well as football), multiple basketball courts and a sports complex for indoor sports such as table tennis and carrom. There are multiple clubs but the only active clubs are literary club and ieee club. The classrooms are not that great but you get used to it after a while. Every year, the college festival happens for 3 days, and department festivals happen every 4 years. The library has multiple books related to academics but the organisation of the books is poor so searching for a specific book may take a lot of time. However the campus is very close to the sea shore, which is a popular hangout spot for students.
The hostel fees is 60000 per year, with 10 extra as caution deposit in first year and 5000 for admission fees. The approximate estimation is as follows Room rent per year - 3500 Electricity and water bill - 5500 Establishment fees - 21000 Mess fees - 30000(may increase) The general food is rice, however the food taste is good
There is no placement but lot of values are there for this certificate and theres so many job oppertunites are theres in the library field. Not many students aren’t took this course so we can simply get jobs
There have campus placement after completing our course if we are wiling to do so on the affiliated colleges or off campuses of the university. For women also there have colleges at local and national level. Students also prefer to proceed their studies at global level by entering into international universities and other programmes.
The college has its own placement cell .each year almost 400-500 students are getting placed.the well know recruiters are TCS , Accenture,Bounteous , Capgemini etc.the highest package of cur end year is 12LPA.
Placement opportunities are excellent in SMVEC which is an attractive factor to join this college. Internships need to join based on our own intrest. TCS ans CTS is an main recruiting organisations in this college.
Eligibility for sitting In placement is that we should not carry backlogs and we have to maintain a decent cg of 7+ some companies do allow even you have backlogs but mostly they don't . In eee we have a good scope of getting palced this time everyone who sat for placements was placed and the highest core package of 12lpa which is actually good. Average was around 7 lpa for core in eee . I'll probably choose upsc career so this placement thing is not my piece of cake . Still our college is good for eee core placements
Job placement is quite bad in our university if you think to get addmission here you will fight for job . You have to apply directly to the companies. Companies are coming here but they didn't provide placement more than 30% .
The few companies which attended the placement drive were pharmaceuticals and sales companies, which weren't related to the field we pursued. Students attended the placement drive got placed and were able to bag below average packages. The percentage of students who got placed were around 40%. My plans were to go for higher studies. More emphasis could have been placed by the college on the placements and more opportunities could have been provided by the college for the students.
Most of the departments are providing placement for their students. In commerce and management departments Banks are the largest employers. For attending in the placement the concent from Head of department is needed
There are many vast companies coming for the Training and placement centre for placements. There are chances of good scholars to get placements in higher companies. There are job opportunities for the students
Every year students are placed in a week reputed companies like Amazon,Virtusa,TCS, Capgemini, Renault and so on. All the students having eligibility to attend the placements but some of the Top MNC expected 60% eligibility of throughout 10,12 and academic CGPA. So not eligible students also having more placements options to crack it.
