VIT-An honest review
Likes
- The college infrastructure for labs is very well equipped and maintained. Research is given a lot of importance at VIT. Many professors are also very eager to mentor students through research.
- The reputation of VIT in industries is very good, and major companies (like Samsung and Schneider Electric) have built labs to help students break into the real world.
Dislikes
- The rules at VIT are very strict for boys and even more strict for girls. Not a lot of freedom is given to anyone.
- The crowd can get very overwhelming at times because there are so many people.
Remarks :
The major factor which made me prefer VIT over colleges such as Manipal, Amrita, etc was Industry connect. VIT has a lot of industry ties. About six major companies have setup training labs at VIT. The labs in general are very well equipped and maintained. Another factor about VIT is how good the research scene is. Research is promoted a lot and many professors are more than ready to guide students on their research journey. The only way of getting into VIT is through the VITEEE exam. Depending on how you're performance is, a rank is assigned to you which determines which branch at which campus and category is allotted to you.
Course Curriculum Overview :
I chose Electronics and Instrumentation engineering because I have a specific interest in electronics and sensors and automation. There is also future scope as more industries get setup in India, the more instrumentation engineers would be required. Qualification of faculty goes both ways here. Finding the right faculty for you can make and break you're experience at VIT. Exams are conducted almost every month here at VIT but they are fairly easy to score by just studying the night before the exam(if al you're notes are in order). There are two internal tests, quizzes and digital assignments which are considered for internal marks, and one final end of semester exam.
Internships Opportunities :
I haven't opted for any internships. Getting an internship through VIT can be a little challenging because of how many people there are. If you don't get an internship, then you have to do something called a capstone project in VIT which substitutes you're placement credits.
Placement Experience :
For placements, a CGPA of atleast 8.5 is needed to be eligible. This year's placements haven't finished yet so I don't have an exact number on how many offers have been made. The average package is going for around 11.5 lakhs. Highest package has gone for 1.5 crores. The percentage of students placed is around 80 percent. My plans after getting the degree is to aim for a Masters, not sure what I'd be doing for my masters yet but getting a masters is my plan going forward.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
VIT vellore has allots each students categories. I am a Category 4 student which results in my yearly fees being around 4,50,000/-. There are five categories. The fees range from 3,00,000/- to 5,50,000 yearly depending on you're category and hostel type. Apart from this, there are registration fees for the VITEEE exam, fees to be able to participate in the seat allotment. Financial aid is available for students but I am not fully aware on the procedures.
Campus Life :
VIT has two main festivals. The first one is the technical fest which is called Gravitas which goes on for three days. During those three days clubs at VIT conduct various workshops, hackathons and events which help students start developing their skills. The second fest is the cultural fest, which is called Riviera, which goes on for four days. Different artists come each day to perform and entertain the crowd. Clubs also hold stalls and conduct various events for the entertainment of students. Library has plenty of books and journals for every course offered at VIT. Classrooms have all the basic amenities required for every student. A projector, whiteboard and benches are the amenities provided in each classroom.
Hostel Facilities :
The food quality of the messes at VIT is okayish. Each hostel block has their own mess and caterer. You can change you're mess each month to try out which mess fits you. Regitration for the hostels happens through their website. Mess is allotted depending on the block. Affordability for hostels depends on the room type and block. Hostels are maintained very well and housekeeping is available to help clean rooms.

Placement Experience :
Placements are good like when you rech the 4th semester you will be told to register the Placement portal and you will be charged 5000 to register in that Placement portal after that people from good companies or professional Placement trainers will come and train you give you classes the classes will be there until 5th semester end. After that many Placement offers will come to you in your given emails and you will be able to apply in those companies if you are eligible they will contact you. Internship offers the staffs itself give all the active Internship details in the college whatsapp group it will be created once your classes begin.
ITS VALUE FOR MONEY
Placement Experience :
The eligibilty varies it's better to no arrears during placements average package could 3.5LPA Around 60 percent is placed I got placed. IN our college there are various companies that come for placemrnt like Capegimini, hcl, wipro, airtel, Ericcson.
Good college and value for money
Placement Experience :
Around 70% of the students from this course got placed, which is kinda decent I think. The highest package went up to 21 LPA and the lowest was around 5 LPA. Some of the main companies that came for recruitment were TCS, Zoho and Wipro. For internships also, students got chances in companies like Zoho, Amazon and Wipro. Most of the roles offered were related to HR, not much technical roles from what I heard.

The fee structure in the college is high and for different course the fee is different for ELECTRONIC AND COMMUNICATION ENGINEERING I am paying ?90000 and for bus ? 16000 and someone in my class is paying ?125000 so not everyone is paying the same amount in the college
