Goa University Admission Updates
Goa University North Goa offers courses in various fields like commerce, engineering, management, science, arts etc. They offer courses at UG, PG and PhD levels. Goa University has a total of 26 Departments and 2 centres offering 33 programs for master’s degrees and 21 programs leading to M.Phil.
For getting admission students can give the respective entrance exam conducted either by the university or national tests (accepted in most colleges/universities). The university does conduct its own entrance exam known as GCET or Goa CET. The exam is postponed till June due to COVID-19 and its registration form has not yet been released.
GCET exam is MCQ based and one mark is awarded for every correct answer and questions will be based on the secondary and higher secondary level. Those candidates who passed this test will be eligible for taking admission to the University but admission will be based on merit.

Goa University offers various fields of specialization in B.E./B.Arch./ M.Tech. All these courses are taught in offline mode i.e., there is no correspondence/ distance course.

Eligibility
- For B.E. Courses – Candidates must have passed class 12thwith PCM stream and have atleast 40% marks from a recognized board.
- For B.Arch. Courses – Candidates must have passed class 12thwith atleast 50% marks in aggregate and English as compulsory subject.
- For M.E. Courses – Candidates must have a B.E./B.Tech. degree in Computer Science/Information Technology/Electronics/Electronics and Telecommunication or equal with atleast 55% marks. Reserved category students can have 50% marks during their under-graduation.
Selection Criteria
- Admission to M.Tech. Courses will be done on the basis of valid GATE score or an entrance exam conducted by university/department.
- Admission to B.E. courses will be done on the basis of score in GCET Exam conducted by DTE Goa.
- Admission to B.Arch. courses will be done on the basis of merit in NATA Exam.
How to Apply for GCET Exam?
Visit the official website and download application form. Then fill the form and submit it at the specific location (you will be notified) at specific dates along with an application fees of Rs. 1800 in the form of demand draft in favor of ‘Director of Technical Education’ payable at Panaji, Goa I any scheduled bank.

Candidates must have a bachelor’s degree with atleast 40% – 45% marks from a recognized university/college.
Selection Criteria
- For M.A., M.Sc., M.Com. – Admission will be based on the merit list which is prepared on the basis of scores in GU-ART Exam in respective fields.
- For MBA – Selection will be based on marks obtained in CMAT or XAT which is followed by a group discussion and interview.
- For MCA Course – Selection will be based on marks obtained in entrance test conducted by college.
- For M.Phil. – Selection will be based on marks obtained in entrance test conducted by college which is followed by an interview.
- For PhD – Selection will be based on marks obtained in entrance test conducted by college i.e. GU-PET which is followed by an interview.
Documents Required
Various documents need to be submitted at the college at the time of admission. Documents required are:
- Passport size photographs
- Bonafide Certificate
- Marks sheets of previous qualified exams.
- Caste Certificate (if applicable)
- Transfer certificate from school or college that you have attended in past.
- Income Certificate
- Certificate of Physically Handicapped (if applicable)
- OCI /PIO Card /document issued by the Competent Authority for NRI candidates.
- A certified copy of the passport or other equivalent document as proof of being an Indian Citizen

Remarks:
The idea of pursuing marine science and having seniors and alumni who have graduated from the university itself made me chose this university as it has good ties with research institutes such as NIO and NCPOR. Students who get to go there are provided with hands on experience and practical knowledge that allows for greater exposure to research work, which is benefiting students who want to pursue research in the following years.

In Goa, the name of the college is very popular and has a great image. I had applied to other colleges but I got first in Shree Damodar College of Commerce & Economics so directly enrolled there. Also, the time when I enrolled the college was covid time so there were no interviews by seeing students HSSC percentage we got the enrollment.

For our course, there is an interview and an entrance exam. I chose this college mainly because of less fees compared to another college. Also, there are food production, travel and tourism, and hospitality courses because of that we get many job opportunities.
