Madhya Pradesh Medical Science University (MPMSU) was set up in 2011 as a state affiliating university by the Government of Madhya Pradesh under the Madhya Pradesh Ayurvigyan Vishwavidyalaya Adhiniyam, 2011. Recognised by the University Grants Commission (UGC), it is the only affiliating authority for medical, dental, nursing, paramedical, Ayurveda, Homeopathy, Unani and Yoga colleges in Madhya Pradesh.

MPMSU has its headquarters in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh. It oversees 300 colleges across the state and covers every major health science stream. These institutions together admit 80,000 students each year. MPMSU is mainly an affiliating and examination body, so it does not participate in NIRF rankings. Its individual colleges may enter NIRF in their relevant categories.

Government hospital internships for medical graduates from affiliated colleges carry a monthly stipend of INR 15,000 to 17,000. MBBS graduates must also meet Madhya Pradesh's compulsory rural service bond requirement.

Under the state quota, government medical colleges in Madhya Pradesh provide one of central India's lower-fee MBBS options. At the MD/MS level, affiliated government and private colleges offer General Medicine, Surgery, Paediatrics, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Radiology, Orthopaedics and more than 15 other specialisations.

MBBS and BDS Admission

NEET UG is the only entrance examination for MBBS and BDS seats at colleges affiliated with MPMSU. Admission follows National Medical Commission (NMC) and Dental Council of India (DCI) rules. DME MP counselling fills 85% of seats under the State Quota, while MCC handles the remaining 15% through All India Quota counselling.

Applicants need 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry and Biology and at least 50% aggregate marks. The minimum is 40% for SC, ST and OBC students.
The minimum age is 17 years on December 31 of the admission year.
Applicants must achieve the NEET UG qualifying score set under NMC rules.
The process moves through NEET UG scoring, the DME MP State Merit List, choice filling, seat allotment, document verification and reporting.

For General Category State Quota seats in Madhya Pradesh government medical colleges, MBBS closing ranks commonly fall between NEET rank 40,000 and 80,000, depending on the college. Under the state quota, private MBBS colleges may accept ranks up to 3 to 4 Lakhs.

AYUSH Admission for BAMS, BHMS, BUMS and BNYS

A valid NEET UG score is compulsory for every AYUSH undergraduate course. DME MP runs AYUSH counselling separately from the MBBS and BDS process. Applicants must have completed 10+2 with PCB and secured at least 50% marks. Seat allotment follows the rules of the Central Council of Indian Medicine (CCIM) and the Central Council of Homeopathy (CCH).

Nursing and Allied Health Sciences Admission

DME MP uses NEET UG merit or state-level merit for B.Sc Nursing, BPT, BMLT, BASLP and B.OT admission. Students need Physics, Chemistry and Biology in 10+2 with a minimum aggregate of 45%. Applications are filed through the DME MP online portal, after which seats are assigned through centralised admission.

MD, MS and MDS Admission

NEET PG scores decide admission to postgraduate medical courses. MCC counselling covers 50% of PG seats through the All India Quota, and DME MP counselling fills the other 50% under the State Quota. MD and MS applicants need an NMC-recognised MBBS degree and a valid NEET PG score. MDS applicants must hold a BDS degree and qualify through NEET PG.

MPMSU Campus and Infrastructure

MPMSU's administrative headquarters is in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh. Because the university works as an affiliating body, it has no separate teaching campus. Academic classes and clinical training are delivered by affiliated colleges and their teaching hospitals throughout the state.
