Institute of Advanced Research (IAR), Gandhinagar is a state private university created through the Institute of Advanced Research, Gandhinagar Act, 2011, passed by the Gujarat Legislative Assembly. Clinical Embryology is offered through the School of Biotechnology and Bioengineering. It prepares students to work in IVF clinics and reproductive health laboratories. IAR accepts both full-time and part-time researchers for its multidisciplinary Ph.D. programmes after they pass the IAR Research Entrance Test.

IAR Gandhinagar Admission Process

Admission methods differ by course. B.Tech seats are allotted through ACPC counselling, most undergraduate science and arts courses use Class XII merit, and postgraduate or research programmes follow their own score and interview requirements.

B.Tech

The Admission Committee for Professional Courses, known as ACPC, manages the centralised B.Tech counselling process in Gujarat. Applicants may use either their JEE Main All India Rank or GUJCET score.

  1. Complete Class XII with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics and obtain at least 45% in aggregate.
  2. Take JEE Main or the Gujarat Common Entrance Test, GUJCET.
  3. Register through the ACPC portal and submit the required entrance score.

Diploma holders with at least 45% may seek B.Tech lateral entry through the corresponding ACPC counselling process. AICTE has approved all four B.Tech specialisations: Computer Engineering, Information Technology, Biotechnology and Chemical Engineering. Each has a total fee of INR 3.93 Lakhs.

B.Sc, BCA, BBA and BA Programmes

Class XII marks determine admission to the B.Sc Hons., BCA, BBA and BA Hons. courses, and applicants do not need a separate entrance examination. Applications are submitted through IAR’s online admission portal at admission.iar.ac.in during the application window, which is typically open from April to July.

MBA

A graduate with at least 50% may apply for the MBA with a valid CAT, MAT, CMAT, XAT or GMAT score. IAR first shortlists applicants using the entrance result and then conducts a group discussion and personal interview. For the Executive MBA, selection considers professional experience and performance in the personal interview.

M.Sc and M.Tech

Relevant undergraduate marks are used for direct admission to the M.Sc courses. For M.Tech Biotechnology, GATE-qualified applicants receive preference. Those without GATE may still be considered using their B.Tech marks and a departmental interview.

Ph.D.

Applicants need a relevant master’s degree with at least 55%. They must clear the IAR Research Entrance Test and attend an interview based on their research proposal.
