The Jamsetji Nusserwanji Tata Endowment Scholarship is the loan scholarship award established to support the India students who want to pursue higher studies abroad. It was started by Jamsetji Nusserwanji Tata, the founder of the Tata Group in 1892. They have awarded the loan scholarships to more than 5600 Indian students from all over India. Eligibility for the scholarships include exam scores of IELTS or TOEFL and other relevant exams. 

  • The loan scholarship amount will range between Rs.1,00,000 to Rs. 10,00,000 and is based on the requirements set for achieving the main purpose.
  • It doesn’t entirely cover the cost of the tuition fees.
  • Also, the students may be chosen for the partial travel assistance, given the maximum amount of Rs. 50,000 and a gift reward, given the amount range from Rs. 2,00,000 to Rs. 7,50,000 from the affiliated Trusts.

JN Tata Endowment Scholarship: Eligibility Criteria

Interested candidates in receiving the benefits given by the JN Tata Endowment Scholarship have to follow the eligibility criteria. Go through the criteria given below:

  • Interested candidates should have Indian Nationality
  • The age of the candidates should not be more than 45 years.
  • The admission to the desired course at the foreign university should be acknowledged as a graduate programme in foreign terms and it should be termed as post- graduate degree in the Indian terminology.
  • It is awarded to those students only who will pursue the full time course and have not applied for the distance education, workshops, training, online studies, etc.
  • Candidates should have cleared the GRE/ GMAT/ TOEFL/ IELTS exam with a good score. If the candidates have not scored good, they can improve their score by reappearing the examination.
  • Candidates should have scored at least 60% in the previous qualified exam.
  • Candidates who were rejected last year due to some reason can apply again for this scholarship benefit.
  • Candidates who have repaid the existing loan scholarship can apply for this scholarship.

Steps to apply for the JN Tata Endowment Scholarships

Candidates can apply for this loan scholarship in the online mode only. There is no way to submit the form in the offline mode. The application form of those candidates will be accepted only who will meet the eligibility criteria. These scholarships also cover cost of living in USA. Follow the steps given below to fill the application form:

  1. Visit the official website of the JN Tata Endowment Scholarship: www.jntataendowment.org.
  2. The home page will appear on the display screen.
  3. Click on the “Login for Alumni” option to open the scholarship form.
  4. Enter the necessary personal details such as full name, email id, etc.
  5. Click on the scholarship option and add more information about the given scholarship amount in the “JN Tata Particulars” section.
  6. Move to the “Current Profile Section”, enter the correct academic and work details.
  7. Click in the agreement box to ensure that you agree with all the terms and conditions.
  8. Enter the given Captcha to give the human access to candidature.
  9. Click on the submit button and your application form will be finally submitted.

  1. Submit the statement of purpose by addressing to the “Trustees of the JN Tata Endowment”.
  2. The statement of purpose should follow the given format by answering the following questions:
  • Which course have you chosen and why?
  • Are you continuing your graduation in the previously selected stream or are you changing the stream? If yes then explain the reason behind it.
  • What are your expectations for the PG degree?
  • Explain the previous experience in the chosen field?
  • If you are experienced, what else do you want to learn more about?
  • How does the selected program fulfill your dreams?
  • What are your further career plans?
  1. Submit the scanned copies of the official documents such as Transcripts.
  2. Submit the online letter of recommendation received from the university professor. It should contain all the required details such as name of the candidate, college/ university, email id, contact information, etc.

JN Tata Endowment Scholarship: Selection Procedure

The complete selection procedure has been divided into 4 different parts:

  • Screening of the Application form: This is the first step in the selection procedure. The application forms submitted by the candidates will be reviewed on the basis of the following factors:
  • GMAT/GRE/ IELTS/TOEFL score
  • SOP (Statement of Purpose)
  • Academic performance
  • Participation in extra- curricular activities
  • Shortlisting for the online test: After reviewing the application form, candidates are shortlisted based on the above given factors. Online test follows the guidelines as that of the Thinking Skills Assessment (TSA). th exam is based on the arithmetic problems not based on the complex calculations and it is considered as the highly competitive exam. Other important details related to the online test will be informed to the shortlisted candidates via email.
  • Shortlisting for the technical interview: After the conduction of the online test, the candidates will be shortlisted on the basis of the online test score. Now, the shortlisted candidates have to appear for the technical virtual interview round via Microsoft Teams, Zoom Meeting or Skype. The selection will also be dependent on the academic scores and the scores obtained in the exams to study in USA.

Formalities to be Completed After Selection in the JN Tata Endowment Scholarship

Once the candidates got selected in the JN Tata Endowment Scholarship, they have to complete the certain formalities:

  • Repay the loan in five installments from the 3rd to the 7th year.
  • Selected candidates along with their guardians have to visit the administrative office for completion of the important formalities. They should have obtained the visa.
  • Candidates have to submit the required documents which will ensure that you have the capability to repay the loan in future and have to sign the legal agreement with the trustees.
