IELTS Exam Pattern

IELTS exam pattern comprises of four different sections namely:

Candidates are required to attempt all the sections of IELTS syllabus except for IELTS Speaking on the same day of tests. 4 Limited user The test taker's basic competence is limited to familiar situations. They frequently show problems in understanding and expression. They are not able to use complex language.
3 Extremely limited user The test taker conveys and understands the only general meaning in very familiar situations. There are frequent breakdowns in communication.
2 Intermittent user The test taker has great difficulty understanding spoken and written English.
1 Non-user The test taker cannot use the language except for a few isolated words.

They are scored out of 40 and then converted  to a  band score which ranges  from  band 1  to  band 9.

Ans: You will be able to get IELTS results within 13 days for computer-delivered tests and up to 2 weeks for paper-based tests. IELTS results will be available online in your account created during registration.

Ans: Your IELTS test centre will send your official Test Report Form (TRF) to your postal address. For IELTS on computer, your TRF will be posted 3 to 5 days after your test date. For IELTS on paper, your TRF will be posted 13 days after your test date.

Ques: What can I do if I am unhappy with the test results?

Ans: You can apply for a review of your band scores (called an Enquiry on Results) at your test centre within six weeks of the test date. However, you must pay an enquiry fee, which is fully refunded if your band score changes. If your band score changes, you will be issued a new Test Report Form (TRF).

Ques: Can other English language test results count towards my IELTS score?

Ans: No, other English tests results does not count towards IELTS score. Since IELTS is an individual English-language proficiency test, no other test results will be able to count towards your IELTS score.
