IELTS registration is now available in three distinct modes. You have the options, for online registration and paying the fees through a credit card. The Indian students need to make a demand draft on any of the IDP-approved banks. During, IELTS 2024 registration, you need to pay INR 17000 as a paper-based exam fee. Or you can consider IELTS on a Computer, the examination fee for IELTS remains the same. IELTS test booking considers 4 monthly test dates. IELTS Eligibility
IELTS exam test booking is open to everyone without specific eligibility criteria. Most universities require an IELTS score of 7 or higher for admission. Some universities also accept an IELTS band score of 6.5, but it is preferred to have a score of 7 to avail of a wide range of options. IELTS Exam Application Process
IELTS test booking can be done through IDP official site. Candidates are advised to complete IELTS examination booking in India or for other countries at least 3-4 months before the application deadline of the university. Candidates can choose from the below-mentioned application process in order to register for IELTS Academic or General:
- Candidates can register the IELTS registration form online and paying through credit card.
- Exam-takers can register in person or offline at any IDP branch or Input Node.

IELTS Online Test Booking Process

After selecting the preferred test city and “Book now” option, candidates will be able to see the IELTS exam date availability for each month.
Candidates will receive a confirmation in the computer screen after the completion of the registration process. IELTS Offline Registration Process
IELTS examination booking offline required to walk into any IDP branch/head offices or the nearest Input node. Candidates can do IELTS exam dates booking offline using the following two methods:
Online Registration at Office
- Candidates need to register online for IELTS General or Academic using the computer at the office and pay the test fee. Candidates will get an immediate confirmation of the seat (this process is similar with that of the online registration)
- Aspirants have to submit a photocopy of the Passport (first and last page), and observation pages, if any.
- Candidates have to submit the duly signed Terms & Conditions document and must read it properly before handing over.
- Following this, candidates will receive an instant acknowledgement letter confirming seat in the test.
Offline Registartion
- Candidates have to fill the application form available at the IDP office/Input Node
- Candidates are required to read carefully and then sign the Terms & Conditions document provided with the application form.
- Candidates will be required to add a photocopy of the first and last page of the passport, and observation pages, if any.
- Candidates have to pay the test fee either by
- A valid credit / debit / ATM card, or
- demand draft(drawn in favour of "IDP Education India Private Limited, payable at New Delhi"). It should be made at any bank listed in the approved list of banks (provided in the Terms & Conditions document)
- Depositing cash in an ICICI bank branch via a customised ICICI deposit slip, which can be either downloaded from the IDP IELTS website or collected from any IDP branch office/ Input Node. The original customer copy of the customised ICICI deposit slip needs to be handed over to IDP branch office or the Input Node as proof of payment
Candidates, after payment, can request the IDP branch/Input Node staff to submit the application form in the online registration system. Candidates can request the staff to provide the acknowledgment slip of the test booking and tentative seat reservation. If the candidate has paid the fee by the bank draft after considering IELTS eligibility, the seat confirmation will be subject to the realization of the bank draft.
Registration by Courier
Candidates can download the IDP test registration form ieltsidpindia.com. Candidates can also collect the application form from the nearest IDP branch office or Input Node. Candidates can check the below-mentioned procedure for the IELTS Computer Based Test and Paper Based Test registration by courier and paying the test fee by Demand Draft or ICICI deposit/HDFC deposit slip:
- Candidates will be required to fill up the application form.
- Candidates will be required to submit the duly signed Terms & Conditions document and have to read it properly before handing over.
- Candidates will have to submit a photocopy of the first and last page of the Passport, and observation pages, if any.
- Candidates have to add the Demand Draft for the test fee (drawn in favour of "IDP Education India Private Limited, payable at New Delhi"). It should be made at any bank listed in the approved list of banks in the terms & conditions document. IELTS Indicator Registration
The IELTS Indicator is a product of the conducting bodies of IELTS offering facilities test at-home to the candidates. The IELTS Indicator registration process is similar to that of the regular IELTS exam. Candidates can check the below-mentioned steps for IELTS Indicator registration:
- Candidates have to create an account for IELTS slot booking
- Candidates have to open the IELTS Indicator sites and go to the Registration page.

IELTS Registration Fees
IELTS registration is conducted through the British Council and IDP. Candidates can pay for the IELTS test registration in both online and offline procedures. Rescheduling or Cancellation of IELTS Examination
Candidates will be charged with the amount of cancellation fee depending on the duration left for IELTS exam dates. Candidates are required to follow the below-mentioned points for rescheduling or cancellation of the IIELTS exam booking:
- Candidates can reschedule or cancel the preferred exam date only if the test date is at least 15 days from the date of rescheduling.
- Candidates can reschedule for 34 days and above, without stating any reason.
- Candidates can change the date or file for cancellation via email, an official letter, or by visiting the council.
- If the test date is between 15-34 days, candidates can only make requests for cancellation by providing supporting documents. Cancellation will be done once the request is approved.
- After cancellation is approved, refund will be processed to the candidates within 8-10 business days after deducting administrative charges.
- Candidates who change the exam date after 5 weeks or more will be charged with an additional fee.
- If the candidates cancel the IELTS test 5 weeks ahead of the test day, they will receive a refund, minus a 25% administrative fee.
- Candidates will get a refund by providing evidence for being unable to sit for the test within 5 days. It may include severe illness, death of a family member, hardship or trauma, military service.
- Candidates can choose a new date within three months of the original test date.
- If the candidates wish to sit for the IELTS exam after several months, they must re-register for a future date, and ensure IELTS prepartion is complete before IDPIELTS test dates.
- Candidates must cancel the exam at least 5 weeks prior to the exam date to get a refund.
- No refund will be paid after cancelling the examination in the last 5 weeks.
IELTS Rescheduling fee vary from INR 3,650 - INR 3,935. IELTS Cancellation fee is 25% of test fee.
IDP IELTS Exam Centers
IELTS exam is held multiple times in a year. In India, there are 82 IELTS test centres in 78 cities. Candidates can choose IELTS exam registration test dates, and test centers as per their comfort and requirement.
