SAT Exam Pattern and Syllabus

The digital SAT exam pattern has been updated, which now consists of two sections writing and Maths. The total duration of the test is 2 hours and 14 minutes. Both the sections of the test are divided into 64 minutes and 70 minutes respectively. SAT scholastic assessment test syllabus is divided into two equal-length modules. There is a 10-minute break for each section. The first module of each section contains a mix of easy, medium and hard questions and there is no negative marking for wrong answers. 

SAT Reading and Writing Section

SAT reading section contains 54 questions with two 32-minute modules each. SAT reading and writing syllabus consists of short reading messages followed by single multiple-choice questions. In the new Digital SAT, there will be shorter reading passages instead of a few long texts.  Previously known as SAT EBRW, passages in the Reading and Writing sections contain 25 to 50 words each.   • Expression of Ideas - it measures the ability to revise texts to improve the effectiveness of the written texts.
  • Standard English Conventions - tests the ability to conform to the core conventions of the Standard English conventions. 

SAT Math

SAT exam has the Maths section, which is also divided into two 35-minute modules. SAT Maths questions contain 70 questions, which are mostly multiple-choice questions. SAT questions also have a student-produced response that measures your fluency with, understanding of, and ability to apply the maths concepts, skills, and practices that are most essential. Almost 30% of the maths questions are in-context questions. The new digital SAT allows you to use calculators for the entire Math section. These context questions require you to consider a science, social studies, or real-world scenario and apply your maths and knowledge, along with an understanding of the context, to determine the answer to each.

SAT Registration 2024

Students must register for SAT if they want to take the test. For students planning to pursue their bachelor's degree in one of the top study-abroad countries, such as the United States or Canada, SAT is a crucial test. Students can register for SAT exam either offline, by mail, or online, which is more practical. SAT Registration by Mail

You must know that SAT literature which was a part of the subject tests, are no longer taken. Steps for SAT test Registration by Mail:

  1. The first thing one requires is "The Student Registration Handbook for SAT and SAT Subject Exams," which may be found in schools.
  2. A registration form and a return envelope are included in the handbook.

SAT Payment Methods

The conducting body of SAT taking doesn't accept cash.SAT subject test scores are no longer contributed to the overall SAT online exam scores. There are three ways to pay SAT exam fee:

  • Credit Cards: American Express, Discover, Visa, MasterCard, Diners Club, and JCB.
  • PayPal: New PayPal users are required to create an account before beginning registration. Ghana doesn't accept the PayPal method.
  • Check or Money Order: All the money orders and checks are to be delivered to ‘The College Board’ address. Only checks drawn on U.S. banks are accepted.

SAT Exam Rescheduling Process

With the official College Board account, applicants can modify their SAT online exam date. Applicants must cancel their SAT exam registration after registering for the revised exam date because it is no longer necessary. Before the standard change deadline, candidates must pay $28; after the regular change deadline, they must pay USD 35. Rearranging SAT exam dates is not subject to any time constraints. To avoid rescheduling the test, you must set a target SAT preparation time to avoid any last minute preparation.

SAT Exam Cancellation

The test taker could decide not to take the exam on a specific day and not wish to reschedule. If so, they can simply cancel their test by failing to show up. The results of that applicant will immediately be disregarded by the College Board. Registrations for SAT taking cannot be canceled up to five days before the scheduled exam. If registration is canceled, a partial refund of $10 will be given. Processing of refunds begins six weeks following the test date. To avoid paying any cancellation fees for theexam due to stress and under-confidence, you can avail SAT online coaching classes.

SAT Fee Waivers

The College Board provides SAT fee exemptions and scholarships for low-income students and students in economically disadvantaged areas. A student can use it to transmit their free SAT score to the institutions of their choosing. Nevertheless, the current modifications have changed the eligibility. Candidates can apply as appropriate or get in touch with a College Board representative to learn more about the requirements. To avail SAT fee waiver, you need to have a high score as well. SAT Exam Eligibility

  4. ID Proof: Both a valid Aadhaar card and a passport are required for SAT eligibility. A picture, a name, and a signature ought to be on it. Any document that is tattered, soiled, worn, or otherwise flawed won't be accepted.

SAT Photo Requirements

SAT Test Centers

Candidates can choose their convenient SAT taking test centers from the College Board’s official website. In India, there are more than 50 SAT test centers spread across 30 cities. SAT Score

SAT scores will be available online within 2 to 3 weeks after the test day. Candidates are required to visit the College Board website to see updated SAT score release dates.   • Choose "My Organizer"
  • The option "SAT scores" will be on the left-side menu; pick it. Next, click on "Access My Scores."

SAT Score Cancellation

  • At test center: Candidates can cancel their test there and then if they are unsure of how it went or if they believe they skipped a few questions. Candidates can ask the test center supervisor for a "Request to Cancel Test Results" form right then and there. Complete all fields and sign their name at the bottom. Send the form to the manager.
  • At home: Candidates can cancel their test at home if they discover their unsatisfactory performance after leaving the testing facility. There is a time restriction on it, though. The College Board must receive their written request for cancellation as soon as possible since requests must be received by 11:59 PM (IST) on a Wednesday following the exam date.
