SAT writing and language test contains multiple choice questions only. You need to read a passage and find and fix any mistakes and weaknesses available. The SAT writing and language test has 4 passages with 44 questions in total. The passages are around 400-450 words each. You will be allowed a total time of 35 minutes to complete the writing and language test SAT.

The SAT language section consists of topics like careers, science, humanities, history and social studies. Atleast one of the 4 passages are narrative. This describes events in a storylike way. The topic is non-fictional and might tell a historical event or science experiment. The other three passages are either argumentative or else informative and explanatory. Each passage has 11 questions that follow. These types of questions focusses on recognizing and correcting grammar and its usage in the passage. Not only that, Standard Englisg Conventions are used to identify grammatical errors, punctuation and any other mechanical errors of incorrect flow in the passage. Some passages has a graph or table or chart related to the passage. You do not need to change or make corrections to the graph itself. The graph or table or chart is for additional support for a point made in the passage.

SAT Writing and Language Test Scores

The SAT writing and language test score ranges from 400-1600. The total SAT score is the sum of two sections Evidence-Based Reading and Writing, and Math. Each section comprises of a score of 200-800. The raw scores are converted to scaled scores from 10 to 40.
