• The doctoral program lasts four years. The degree program is structured around coursework and a thesis. Within the first two years of the program, the student must pass a comprehensive written and oral exam.
  • The thesis, which requires original research, is the most important part of the work towards the degree. Before being admitted to the program, all prospective students must first choose a potential supervisor and, in collaboration with that supervisor, organize a research plan that may include a thesis topic. A key consideration in making this initial choice is the research interests of the faculty.
