Government VYT Post Graduate Autonomous College, Durg was established in August 1958, with its foundation stone laid in 1958 by Dr. Kailasnath Katju, the then Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh.

The college functions from a 15-acre main campus and has the facilities required to support a recognised higher education institution. It is a government college and received autonomous status in 1989.
