Maharaja’s College has more than 75 course choices at UG, PG and PhD levels. As it is a government-funded institution, the total fees are low compared with many autonomous colleges.

BA Honours is available in Economics, Applied Economics, English, History, Malayalam, Political Science, Arabic, Hindi, Islamic Studies, Music, Philosophy, and Sanskrit. M.Sc Pharmaceutical Chemistry is a self-financing course, so its fee is higher than the government-aided M.Sc courses.

Maharaja’s College Admission Process

Maharaja’s College admits students mainly through merit. The method changes by course level, but the application process is online through the college admission portal at maharajas.ac.in.

UG Admission (BA, B.Sc, B.Com)

For most UG courses, the college prepares rank lists using index marks calculated from 10+2 board results. Students do not have to appear for a separate entrance test, except for BA Music Honours.

PG Admission (MA, M.Sc, M.Com)

For PG courses, admission depends on marks in the qualifying UG degree. Applicants must have their UG results declared by the last date of application.

PhD Admission

Maharaja’s College offers PhD study in 18 disciplines in humanities, sciences and commerce. Selection is based on a research entrance test and interview conducted by the college.

Maharaja’s College, Ernakulam does not have a formal campus placement cell. Like many government arts and science colleges in Kerala, students generally apply on their own for jobs, higher studies and research opportunities.

• Civil services and government jobs: Many humanities and commerce graduates prepare for UPSC, KPSC, SSC, banking and central government posts

The UGC-recognised Departments with Potential for Excellence in Chemistry, Physics, Hindi and Malayalam offer research facilities, laboratories and grants that help students continue into doctoral study. Maharaja’s College Rankings

Maharaja’s College appears in the NIRF College category. It ranked 75th in India in 2025 with a score of 56.86. In 2024, it held the 53rd rank.

In NIRF 2025, the college scored well in Teaching, Learning and Resources with 74.69 and in Governance and Outreach with 60.99. Its Research score was 28.74, and its Perception score was 18.00, which reflects the teaching-focused character of government arts and science colleges.

Maharaja’s College Scholarships

Maharaja’s College Campus and Infrastructure

Maharaja’s College has the advantage of NIRF recognition, UGC-recognised research departments and PhD courses in 18 disciplines.
