Mathabhanga College established in 1969 is situated in Cooch Behar district, West Bengal and is one of the oldest college in Mathabhanga. The college is recognised by the University Grants Commission ( UGC ) and accredited by NAAC. Mathabhanga College is an educational institute for undergraduate studies and managed by a Governing body under the control of (DPI) Department of Public Instructions, West Bengal. The college offers 13 courses in 3 streams, Humanities, Science as well as Commerce. Admission to the college is based on merit. Mathabhanga College: Application Process

  • Admission form are available at the college website, after the online submisson students are asked to printout it for the future use.
  • To apply for the honors course the application fee is INR 200 and the general course for INR 100.
  • E counseling is compulsory to secure admission at the college. Students are hereby asked to check the updates regularly on the college website. Students have to visit the college premises after the E- Counseling with the needed documents.

After admission to the college, student has to get registered with the Coochbehar Panchanan Barma University ( CBPBU ) If the concerned student is from a Board other than W.B.C.H.S.E, he / she has to get provisionally registered and is liable to get his / her registration cancelled in case of failure to submit the Migration Certificate. It is compulsory for a student pursuing any of the courses to study Bengali in their first year, English in second and Environmental studies in third. A student can also opt for economics hons. without having mathematics as one of the subject in the Higher secondary or equivalent examination. A candidate may apply for the honours course only if the following conditions are fulfilled: 

  • 55% in the aggregate or 60% in honors subject with 50% in aggregate.
  • For SC / ST 50% in the aggregate or 60% in the honors subject with 45% in aggregate.
  • Admissions are offered on the basis of Merit. A merit list is prepared on the basis of Index marks which can be calculated by adding the marks of English, best marks of two subjects, the one you are going to opt for as the honors subject, again added by 2 * marks obtained in honors subject divided by 6. If the chosen course is not honors, one can calculate the index by adding the best of three subjects and English divided by 4.

  •  For the hostel, applicants are selected while admissions, taking into account their distance from home and inconvenience of communication.
